Estephan tried that Malik between-the-legs move on a breakaway in a 3-3 game, meh, didn't work .. might've lost the puck though so better than nothing, but no replay .. pulled down driving to the net on a 3-v-2 in the next sequence, but no penalty .. they're headed to OT.

Red Deer broadcast team noted his prowess at the faceoff dot .. OT shift was cut short by a linemate's slashing penalty .. was out their for the PK and FO late .. missed his shootout attempt:

What's the general feel on this guy at this point of the season? I've been interested in him since he was drafted.

He's a point producer at the junior level no doubt, having a nice 18 year old season. At 6 feet he's not large but size shouldn't be an issue anyway.

I don't have the privilege of watching him play but I know Lethbridge has a pretty solid team with 6 of their players going over a PPG pace.

I'm excited about him. It's rare that a guy drafted in the 6th round is a topic of real discussion less than a year after he's selected.

Cautiously optimistic that he can be a point producer at the next level (AHL) at this point. I wouldn't go farther than that, projecting that sort of success sets others' expectations and he doesn't need to be saddled with that yet.

Oh my. I can honestly say I don't believe I have ever seen a player deked in quite the way #23 was in that play

Agreed. I think at the nhl level he will struggle with the ability of the competition to consistently be disruptive.

But he has a few years to work on that.

Despite the disappointment at having traded those extra high picks, one year out this class is quietly looking pretty good between Guhle, Borgen, and Estephan (and that Jack Rychel or whatever guy).

Yeah, and the best part is we might be picking awfully high this year (albeit somewhat unexpectedly) and that's great because we're a few players away from being scary while the core develops.

I'm excited to see another one of our guys is raising some hell in minors!

Can anyone explain what in the world #23 was thinking there? I mean yeah he's showing drop pass but you can't just let him skate to the net if Estephan... does what he did.

First thing your taught in peewee was to play the man, not the puck.

But his d-partner or whoever buddy is coasting down the slot should've been all over the drop-back option anyways, he looks like he's out for a Sunday cruise down some Sask back road to nowhere.

The ol' fake drop pass.

Lindy Ruff would go shake that young mans hand for winning the game and then tell him he's benched next game for not following through.

Bad case of controller disconnected.

That assist in the second one is some real good awareness. Calm too.
