Forward Petr Sykora is reportedly on the trading block. Sykora, who has one point in his last seven games, has four goals and is making about $3.12 million on the final year on his contract. "I have not at this point offered Sykora to anybody but I wouldn't rule out any type of move in the future," Burke said.

Just so there isn't any confusion, offering Sykora and listening to offers for him are two completely different things. He is denying the former while doing the latter. GMs love playing word games with the media

Think we could get Allison for Sykora and Salei?

No.

All three are slated to be UFA's - yes. Sales would be useful in Toronto - yes.

Toronto is 5-2 with the big three (Sundin, Lindros, Allison).

Allison is playing like a number one centre for us and his salary is part of the unique bonus structure where part of his salary may not count against the cap (this year).

Alternatively, why would the Ducks want Allison at this stage ? I'm not sure what Brian Burke's thought process is, but wouldn't he want some younger players/prospect when dealing off older, expensive UFA players ?

I suppose we will see. If the Oilers were smart..(And I could go either way on this...)..they would keep a $34 million dollar payroll right until the deadline. Hence they could add a couple of really expensive rentals at deadline for the playoffs.

Sykora is OK, but there might be better diamonds out there.

The good news is that the media doesnt care about the ducks, and if you have been to one of their games this year, there arent too many fans left to piss off.

Wait, maybe that's bad news.

Do you guys have any serious offers for Salei? What are the Flyers willing to part with? The Islanders?

I think Sykora will end up in Carolina they are doing well and have extra dmen to part with they are currently dressing 7 D men every game if one of there forwards goes down...example staal when he rolled his leg had that been serious

I dunno but they are older guys so most likely some prospect would have to go your way or a pick

I'd be interested to know what Anaheim might want off the Blues' roster in exchange for Sykora...

Is he really a good fit in St. Louis though? he is going to be a UFA in July and the Blues aren't exactly looking like a playoff team.

How about Weinrich and Mayers? I'd give up Sykora easily for that deal, right now.

Why? we have 8 NHL d-men already though Weinrich is a better #6 d-man than DiPenta, Beauchemin or Marshall. Mayers is another Moen/Wright.

A young player and a pick would make more sense.

Former is the key word there. Sykora hasn't been able to hit the broadside of a barn this year.

He is a scratch tonight so who knows if he'll still be in a Ducks uniform by the end of the week.

I don't know if many teams will offer up much for Sykora...I doubt they'll get a decent pick or prospect for him.

Weinrich would be useful if Salei goes in a trade, and I think Mayers would be solid on the third line, now that Brennan got sent down and hopefully won't come back up anytime soon.

Weinrich could be useful in that situation but it's not a priority right now. Mayers would be a nice 3rd liner for us it's just that we have too many of those type of players as it is.
