Jesus, accidents like this are the worst. Does anyone know if he has younger siblings or anything like that?

Best wishes to Chris and his family. Hockey is pushed way back in your mind during times like he is going through right now, and lets hope he takes all the time he needs before comming back.

My thoughts are with the Neil family and friends.

I hope he takes whatever time he needs to give and receive the support of loved ones.

Whenever he does get back, I'm sure he'll be warmly embraced and supported.

The magic of sharing. Sorrow shared is lessened. Joy shared is magnified.

Are all 7 defensemen playing tonight or are we calling someone up on short notice?

This is incredibly sad. My thoughts are with Chris's entire family.

I feel like such a ***** for thinking silently to myself "oh no! and he was playing so well!" when I first read it
Don't worry, I thought it too.

Hopefully he's just as tough mentally and will pull through. Poor guy.

Denis Hamel has been called up as an emergency call up.

Heatley - Spezza - Alfredson
Schaefer - Vermette - Havlat
Varada - Fisher - Hamel - Kelly could also play any position on this line
Nobody - Kelly - McGratton

Seriously though, the Senators have become my all time favorite rivalry- and thats just with these 2 games.

This is all because its so FUN to discuss this kind of stuff with all of you guys- you can joke around and compliment all at the same time. I dont think Ive ever been able to discuss the Canes vs any other team and not hear cheap shots or anything juvenile like that.

Thanks for making this so enjoyable.
Give it time.

I did. Not because he's not a good player but because he's constantly hurt.

Staal with a good goal for him, a weak goal for Phillips and Hasek.

Anyone listening to the Carolina NHL Radio feed?

It's a play-by-play guy doing the broadcast by himself and the first thing I thought to myself was:
How good would the Ottawa broadcasts be without Wilson?

Talk about addition by subtraction.....

Anyway, enough about the bad, here's the good...... This Carolina guy is good. Mentioned the Neil family tragedy a couple of times, even mentioned that Fisher broke the news to Neil, then Fisher scored a shorthanded goal and the guy mentioned Fish and Neil being close friends. This guy is pretty good. Flipped over to the Sens broadcast and Wilson was whining incessently about the ref calling an icing.....switched it back to the Hurricane broadcast and have kept it on there since)

Chuck Kaiton has been doing the play by play for Carolina/Hartford since their Whaler days. He's about as solid as they come.

Another one for Carolina, and another weak one on Hasek. He's not having his best game, that's for sure. 2-2. Carolina's taking it to Ottawa.

youre listening to chuck kaiton. he's in the hall of fame media wing. he's been with the team as long as ive been alive - long time whaler guy who followed the team down to carolina. always been my favorite. always fair and respectful to the other team. never gets ink cause what team he does, but definitely amongst the best in the league. roots for his team, but he's as non homer as they come.
