OT: Thanksgiving traveling

Since I'm heading back to Jersey this afternoon in the most unpleasent weather immaginable, I thought to create a thread about Thanksgiving travels.

I hope ya'll get to wherever you are going safely if you are traveling.

Where is everyone eating this year?

As always, I'll be jockying between both of my grandmother's houses in central Jersey.

I ain't going anywhere.

I'm ordering in from "Dallas Barbeque". They have a very satisfactory traditional turkey dinner.

Let me tell you a quick story....

My mom and dad were born in India and really had no idea about thanksgiving. They were both vegetarians and didn't cook meat at home, with the execption of chicken for my sisters and me.

I grew up playing baseball, in high school, college, and a little after college, so I would be around hot dogs and hamburgers at the field stands.

My dad wanted us to enjoy thanksgiving like everyone else so he would bring the turkey, mashed potatos, and stuffing from the hospital cafeteria after making his rounds on Turkey Day.

So when I hear of Thanksgiving, I just remember all those years with hospital food.

Now that's Thanksgiving.

I will be in Ohio with my girlfriend's family...

Farmingdale? A few of my good friends are from farmingdale (parents still living there). And usually, if you are from farmingdale, you know everyone. That is good stuff!

Unfortunately, since I've been on this board, "Debbie" has a different connotation for me.

Fishstix, too,

Wow.

When you put it that way, that movie all of a sudden becomes one of the scariest horror films ever created.

Dallas BBQ?

My man...I'm off to Marco Island - been doing that the last 16 years, and I hate turkey! Leaving in three hours - be well all. Don't think I'll be popping in while I'm away (let my wife keep the laptop for the week since she'll be home alone).

I had a client try to schedule a meeting tomorrow in Philly at 1:00 (I'm in Jersey City). My secretary actually scheduled it then sent me an e-mail to let me know. So much for her Christmas bonus! Anyway I promptly called the client and told him that I would be glad to have the meeting on Wednesday at 1:00 as long as he didn't mind travelling to meet me here in JC. He quickly understood why I was hesitant to meet tomorrow and we rescheduled for next Tuesday. I suspect my secretary really hates me!

Monmouth County. On the shore. I'm SURE you know where Asbury Park is. Small town right next to it named Bradley Beach is where I live.

We need to all have a meet-up for a game one day with some brews and such.

'twould be a fun occasion. Not at a bar, obviously, being as they won't let a minor such as me in. Oh, the pains of being a little over a year from 21 (1 year, 6 months or so).
