Although I have to admit, too bad his rebound in the shootout didn't count. That was nice.
And Ales does? I was wondering before Ales started moving how he was going to get Weekes screened so he could rip one from the point...

I think neither Ales nor Drury were the right players to pick for the shootout. Ruff went with the hot hands and got lucky once. Neither of these players are good breakaway guys. Going with the hot hand is a good stategy for one shooter...but not 2 out of the three. Vanek should have been in it, maybe Timmah, maybe Max, or even Kalinin.

Regardless...the game is over and in the past. We just have to hope for speedy injury recoveries for all of our players, not just a few.

This thread reminds me of a scene from that all-time American classic, Pee Wee's Big Adventure.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Biker #2: I say we kill him!
Biker Gang: [shouts] Yeah!
Biker #3: I say we hang him, then we kill him!
Biker Gang: [shouts] Yeah!
Biker #4: I say we stomp him!
Biker Gang: [shouts] Yeah!
Biker #4: Then we tattoo him!
Biker Gang: [shouts] Yeah!
Biker #4: Then we hang him!
Biker Gang: [shouts] Yeah!
Biker #4: And then we kill him!
Biker Gang: [shouts] Yeah!
Pee-wee: [trying to throw voice without moving lips] I say we let him go.
Biker Gang: [shouts] No!

Takeo, it's not an excuse, it's a read on the situation. Would the team have been hurt had Drury scored? Would we even be having this conversation? And, while we're having this conversation, please explain to me when and where Ruff should take an opportunity to do as I suggested....?

I understand your frustration, but don't agree with it. Most of the reactions in this thread have been the very definition of over-reaction.... nothing close to analysis or objectivity.

I wonder... do you feel the same way tonight after the move Al put on DiPietro? It surprised the hell out of me....

I was at the bar when Drury's name came up in the shootout before he shot, and I swore. Loudly.

That right there should tell you all you need to know about the coaching decision to use him..

lets talk about the idea of the sabres needing to fire lindy ruff. ok its done. now did we win in the shootout or what? can you even figure that we would get another few points aganist a team that had our number last year.(who was good on our team?)

go read your hockey stat books, but this team would not normally win without a briere dumont and miller combo. I don't care if your family is living on an inflatable raft. for all those that ***** about drury in the shootout.. and blame lindy ruff for acid rain in net. eat a pigs foot.

yaba daba doooo!
