RUMOUR: Luongo to Vancouver?

As per SportsNet last night, but this is a rumour that is picking up a lot of 'steam', as it seems. A lot of places are talking about this one now, I was actually shocked that I didn't see a huge thread about this already:

To Vancouver:

Roberto Luongo

To Florida:

Dan Cloutier
Ed Jovonovski

It appears this is the deal that is being talked about quite a bit right now. Debates on 'value' aside, it sure makes for interesting news.

Just look down a couple of threads. There is already a few 'rumors' about Van/Fla flying around.

Well, all you fans wanting a team in Winnipeg, you better start packing, i hear the journey from Florida is a long and bumpy journey ....

worst trade proposal ive seen yet, id rather have aki berg or wade belak, just for sheer hilarity.

I'd love for the nucks to get Luongo, but I can't see them getting him for a mediocore goalie and an upcoming UFA d'man.

That's because you didn't look on the board whatsoever, otherwise you _would_ see a thread entitled 'The Score - Fla/Van rumor'.

You may not have noticed, but this was no proposal. This was a trade rumour.

EDIT: Also, I made a new thread because it is quite a seperate rumour, nor is it 'talk' about Luongo being dealt, it is an actual trade rumour from an actual reputable sports-media source.

I wonder how many of these rumours are perpetuated by places like hfboards though.

a)Eklund or Code or whoever pulls something out of their *** to create a stir
b)hfboards, canucks.com, etc run rampant with speculation
c)reputable places claim there is a rumour out there.

Mind you, I could really see Luongo being moved.

Well, reputable and Sportnet in the same reference...I think not.

That aside, this is again a rehash of the same principle ideas in the previous thread (and the basis of what I was talking about as well...adding a prospect goalie from Vancouver and a pick and sending Hill back and I think its done).

Again, there's even a thread for this exact rumor.

Do you not see it?

It's titled Fla/Van rumor.

It's quite clear, actually.

Surely somebody with 15,000 posts can see that.

Not only do I not see the 'Fla/Van rumor" post you talk about, but the only Van/Florida rumour post in the first few pages of the board involve a completely different set of players, as well as a different source.

Wait a second.. why am I wasting my time responding to RIAL?

Why do you feel the need to make things personal and make a comment like that?

I did nothing of the sort and would appreciate it if you didn't, either. Surely somebody with 15,000 posts wastes enough time as it is, no? I mean, God forbid you take ten seconds out of your busy HF schedule to be taught the rules by somebody.

I don't get it. You make a condescending remark about Jay. He responds with a remark that is clearly not personal, and you take offence.

What is with you sometimes.

There was no condescending remark whatsoever.

I said "Surely somebody with 15,000 posts can see that." Is that so wrong? One would think somebody who's spent that much time on these forums would be able to scroll down and briefly check the titles of threads.

Furthermore, this post of yours is contributing absolutely nothing to the topic and if you have a personal issue with me, feel free to send me a PM.

No need to add more garbage to this thread.

Have a good day.

Perhaps you should get the hint, then.

I'm not interested in confrontation and people who wish to personally attack me.

This is an internet rumor started here on these boards I'm afraid...it has no validity whatsoever.

i cant see how this is a bad trade. You have to realize that jovo is one of the best defenceman in the game. Personally i think cloutier sucks and this is were i think the deal goes sour for you. but you have to realize that what you think cloutiers value is, thats not the same for an nhl GM. If it was then maybe they would be asking you what kind of trade you would do. Face it Luongo is gone. And for Berg and Belak I would do that in a second take Belfour too we dont want that contract either

The more I hear about Luongo/Vancouver the less I expect it to happen.

The more I hear about the more I expect him to go to the Avs. Its just the kind of move Lacroix makes.

Jovo is overrated, costs alot (the panthers are way under cap, but dont expect Cohen to be changing that), is an impending UFA and isnt in the same league of talent that Luongo is. Change Jovo to Bourdon, add a 1st round. Lets face it, i woukd be suprised if Luongo will be in Florida come next season, as much i hate to say that, its probably true. I think we could get alot more than an average starter and Jovo for a franchise netminder. Obviously im biased, but id rather have Luongo than Bertuzzi and Jovo.
Then you consider Vancouvers cap position, and the trade becomes even less likely.
I find it hard to believe that canucks fans seriously think Jovo and Cloutier can really net Luongo. And the canucks are my second favourite team.

Its kind of hard to pick out the rumor's around here, so its kind of understandable. But thanks for passing it along, its nice to see a rumor on the 'trade rumors' board
