Official GDT: 11/26 - NYR vs WAS

VS

8 PM START.The Knicks are playing the Sixers today at MSG-12:30 start

I hate Saturday night home games

Kevin Weekes has an ankle bruise

Quote:
The news on the injured ankle of Kevin Weekes yesterday was good. An MRI of the joint showed no structural damage, meaning the injury is not serious and the Rangers goaltender is day-to-day
Chris Holt was recalled to backup Henrik Lundqvist

The Rangers sent Chad Wiseman and Dale Purinton to Hartford.Purinton has served 6 out of the 10 games on his eye gouging suspension

Quote:
Renney said he will decide today whether C Steve Rucchin, who sat out Thursday's game with back pain, will return to the lineup
http://www.nj.com/sports/ledger/inde...660.xml&coll=1

Quote:
The Rangers returned Chad Wiseman, who struggled Thursday, to Hartford. With Fedor Tyutin returning tonight after missing four straight with a fractured left hand ring finger, Jason Strudwick will move up to wing from defense

Brooks says Rucchin will not play tonight

Good player moves, and nice to read that Weekes is not that seriously injured. Lets hope the Rangers play well and don't let down their performance just because their playing the Caps. One loss to them this season is enough.

I don't like Studwick as a winger. Didn't see Wiseman last night but I rather have someone natrual there.

I missed the last game. Did Wiseman really "struggle"? The numbers at least, +2, 1A, don't seem to support that.

I thought he struggled early (maybe getting used to the pace of the game) and then settled down and I thought played well overall.

He played better than Holik in my opinion.

wiseman took to many penalities. i have no problem with sending him down.

and strudwick has played well on the wing...and has been doing so for a few years now. so playing a wing is natural to him.

I really didnt like how Wiseman played. Took 2 penaltys, should have had a goal but missed a wide open net. He did recover after that, though, and played an OK rest of the game. I'll give credit there.

I read somewhere else that its a sure thing Rucchin is indeed OUT, Struddy will play wing. I like Struddy playing wing once and a while, adds a good phyiscal presence, and he doesnt look out of place at all doing it.

Lets finish this run off. 5 in a row before the long break

True I agree, but id like to see Immonen called up. He should have gotten called up ahead of Wiseman. Does Immonen have to play a certain amount of games or Rangers owe his europe team a fine??? I think its 40 games or so.

It seems to me that Chad had been sitting around for a week not playing. And here comes his shot. I only watched the 1st period but I don't think that he looked that bad. He seemed to be able to keep up without a problem.

No doubt Renney will have the boys up for some revenge against the Caps after that horrible game they played a few weeks ago. Expecting a big game from our boys tonight.

Go Rangers!

If Wiseman got sent down then I think Rucchin will play. Maybe even Rucinsky. Why did Wiseman struggle?

Wiseman struggled because he isn't a good player.

Tyutin is comming back and Strudwick will play Wing. I don't think Rucchin or Rucinsky will be back.

Time for Lundqvist to shine again.

3-1 Rangers. Jagr, Hollweg, Nylander.

They had to shuffle the roster to make room for Holt to come up. I doubt it's any indication of how Chad played in Atlanta.

Looks like it'll be bad ice again at the Garden, with a Knicks afternoon game.

I did not think of Strudwick at wing. I still think there is a good chance Rucchin will play.

I love early GDT's =)
I'm looking forward to seeing Strudwick on the wing. I hope he can do some good work against the boards with Ortmeyer and Moore if that's who they play him with.

Prediction:

5-3 Rangers

Jagr
Moore
Niemenen
Ward (2)

Ovechkin and Halpern(2) for the Caps.

Wiseman looked like an AHL player from our blueline in.

I see this as a must-win to go in to the little break on a 5-game winning streak

5-2 Rangers

Jagr (4), Malik

Ovechkin with both

even if Rucchin begged to be in the line-up

At this point I'd prefer to hold him out for one more game and give his back a full 7-10 days rest from when we last played to when he will play again.

To me, Rucchin is a player that is going to be very important for the Rangers going forward. He's one of those players that provides a calming presense on the ice, on the bench and in the locker room. His value to the Rangers far exceeds what he does on the ice and having a healthy Rucchin is more important than having him back for 1 game.

Let him sit out one more game and come back in Thursday.
