Can we sign Doug Weight after 41 games? 5.7M

Can we get Doug Weight in 18 games best center available UFA next season??????

Before the season started Flyers were at 37.6M including Savage contract. Ok we used some AHL players. Add another 200-300K

After 41 games waive Brashear, put Primeau on IR right now, try to sign Doug Weight best center available IMO. 5.7 million after 41 games 2.85M, if we have a cap room of course. He is UFA next season.

My cap room break down.
After 41 games Primeau 1.71M Brahsear 0.89M = 2.6, Savage 500K should not be counted against cap because Kapanen and Stevenson missed more then 10 games each, Umberger will replace Primeau first half of his contract so his contract should not be counted against cap.
Doable?????????????????
Gagne Forsberg Knuble 19 minutes line
Kapanen Weight Carter 19 minutes line
Handzus Richards Stevenson 15 minutes line
Sim Sharp Radio 7 minutes line

Send Umberger back to AHL if we can not keep him in line up because of cap. I think we can keep Umberger too...
Or do I always come up with some crazy props?

Bingo.

We need one or two more defensemen way more than we need another center.

Why 2 more? Against faster teams double shift Pitkanen, Johnsson, Rathje and Rico.

Weight also has a no trade clause and has stated that he wants to stay in St. Louis.........although something tells me he wouldn't mind being traded to a contender for a couple months. I personally think Nashville would be a good landing spot. The Preds could use a #1/#2 center and have a great prospect pool for the Blues to grab from. Barring severe injuries, I don't think you guys would need to make an Oates-esque trade for Weight.

Philly still has enough centers on their roster that they do not need to make a move for a center even if Primeau is even out for the season. Handzus, Carter, Richards, and Forsberg are plenty good down the middle. What we would need is another forward. We are missing Primeau's defensive presence. You could get Scott Young for 750,000 total contract value. With as bad as St. Louis is you could probably get him for a draft pick or prospect.

we cud possibly go with 1...but wit seidenberg's injury bug this year (concussion earlier...now broken wrist)...if anyone else goes down that leaves us with randy jones and wade skolney as our fill-ins...so def 1 but 2 wud b better

no weight...they shud go for a winger

It was my understanding that Weight was a locker room cancer in St. Louis. How much of that is true, I don't know, but that's not something this team can risk right now.
