Trade Proposal from Boston

Desperate times call for desperate measures:

Samsonov, Gill + picks/prospects

for

Stuart and Cheechoo/Thornton/Ekman/Dimitrakos/Sturm

would you trade any of those guys for that package?

Samsonov is UFA after the season, so I would imagine that would diminish his value.

No.

Samsonov does not make the Sharks significantly better at the expense of Sturm or Cheech. Adding Stuart with any of the forwards kills considering Sammy is an UFA after the year.

Hal Gill I'd give no more than a 5th rounder. Would not want him in this deal.

Any trade with Stuart, I wanna see Boynton.

If it's Stuart + Cheechoo or Sturm I wouldn't do it, not sure about Thornton, Dimitrakos and Ekman.

I really doubt that the Sharks can afford to lose another one of their top defenseman, Gill doesn't do much in that regard.
Samsonov would be an improvement over all of the five forwards, but Gill would be a downgrade on defense, especially on offense coming from the defense. Stuart is pretty much the only offensive weapon on defense right now.

The Sharks simply cannot afford to get worse on the backend.

The only way the Sahrks would make a trade with Boston involving Samsonov and giving up Stuart would be, as PattyIce said, having to include Boynton +.

Remeber, both Samsonov and Boynton will be UFA's after this season so their value is not very high right now therefore you cannot ask the Sharks to give up quality players with time remaining on their contracts.

As far as Gill is concerned, that guy isn't even worth Barry Melrose's hair grease.

Unless we can get them to agree to a contract extension before accepting any trade.

Done. I am not sure who is going to play down low on the PP without Thornton but I'd do it anyway.

Ok you call up the Sharks GM, and I'll hail Mike O'Connell and we'll get this deal DONE.

Exactly, there is no one else!!!!
That's why that trade wouldn't work for the Sharks. On the other hand, I'd love to have Murray on the Sharks.

I'd like to see a trade involving Boynton and Murray to the Sharks.

I don't believe Boynton will be UFA. The requirements for being UFA after this season are either having 8 years of professional service, or being 29 with 4 years of pro service. Samsonov will finish off year 9 this year, while Boynton will finish year 7.

Boynton will not be UFA at the end of the season.

Sammy will, but I'm sure you can get him resigned to a multi-year 3-3.5 mil deal.

In my wildest dreams, yes.

Then again, in my wildest dreams I also got a toilet made of gold but that didn't happen... yet.
