Brashear injures knee

Tim Pannaccio called into 610 WIP reporting that Brashear messed up his knee today during practice.

No report on how serious, but apparently Brashear was pretty distraught.

I'm guessing that Patrick Sharp is heading to the airport as we speak.

I heard it was actually Boyd Kane making the trip, not Patrick Sharp.

Here's the confirmation.

It makes sense seeing as Kane is also a left wing, he's also the captain of the phantoms for those of you who didn't know.

Seems like we've been bit by the injury bug.
Let's get this over with early.

The little bit I've seen of him, I think he is pretty decent, albeit at the AHL level. He seems to have good wheels, high energy and some touch. But time will tell if that will translate into NHL ability.

My guess is that this injury means the Fridge gets some ice time.

My guess the changes come to us this way:

At the end of camp we were supposed to line up this way:

Gagne/Roenick/Amonte
Fedoruk/Handzus/Williams
Leclair/Recchi/Somik
Brashear/Primeau/Kapanen
extras: Lapointe/Chouinard

Brashear, Leclair and Somik are probably all now out. I think that gives us:

Gagne/Roenick/Amonte
Chouinard/Handzus/Williams
Recchi/Primeau/Kapanen
Kane/Lapointe/Fedoruk

I put Chouinard on the 2nd and Recchi on the third mainly due to role. If Primeau is going to be the checking line, it will be better to have Recchi a vet on that line than the young Chouinard. Chouinard needs a chance in some games to play on a scoring line. Maybe just maybe he will blossom. Lets give him 10-15 games and if he isn't working out, maybe Clarke can make another trade like the Brendl one and get us another Kapanen type player. 20-25 goals a year type with good defensive ability.
