GDT Carolina @ Pheonix 12/3/05

@

Well, quite simply we HAVE to win tonight. TB is one point behind us in the standings, and plus..it would be nice to just completely win and get the pts. Pheonix is playing really well now, and the return of Nedved and Morris will only help them be that better. Williams was AWESOME last night, and I am sure his points streak will continue tonight as well. Anyone else notice how physical Staal played last night? He is starting to throw some really nice hits! I beleive rumor is Ward will get the start to night, so maybe he will give up less juicy rebounds than Gerber did last night. One can hope.

Stats:

Standings:
Canes - 34 points, 1st place, Southeast Division
Coyotes - 28 points, 3rd place, 7 PB, Pacific Division

Team Leaders:
Canes -
Eric Staal, 18 goals, 18 assists and 36 points
Mike Commodore, 49 PIM

Coyotes -
Mike Leclerc, 9 goals
Ladislav Nagy, 16 assists and 24 points
Sean O'Donnell, 59 PIM

Special Teams:
Canes-
Power play: 18.4 percent (30 for 163), 11th (tied) in NHL Penalty killing: 78.7 percent (111 for 141), 28th

Coyotes -
Power play: 18 percent (32 for 177), 14th
Penalty killing: 82.2 percent (134 for 163), 17th (tied)

Goalies:
Canes-
Martin Gerber (10-6-0, 2 SO, 2.54 GAA)
Cam Ward (6-2-1, 3.67)

Coyotes -
Curtis Joseph (11-7-0, 2, 2.12)
David Leneveu (2-5-2, 3.20)

Injuries:
Canes- Tverdovsky (PCS), Wallin, Whitney, ect. I also heard that Wesley might not be able to play because of the...nose injury? from last nights game.Coyotes: Brian Boucher is sidelined indefinitly.

Puck drops at 9 (we are easing into the 10:30 games...) on FSN and 102.9 The Canes Cool Bar is at the Cary Ale House tonight also (haven't decided if I am going to watch it out there or not)...

LETS GO CANES.

3 out of a possible 4 so far on this road trip, let's hope they can make if 5 of 6. I won't be at the Cool Bar myself even though the Cary location is the one I hit the most often. Work tomorow morning kindof throws a wrench into those plans.

Wow, Andrew Ladd with another, 3-1 Phoenix though. Canes got a big hill to climb with Coju in net, but im confident the Canes can do it. There hungry for the win.

I think Ladd has to stay when everyone gets healthy now, minus Vasicek, of course. He has double the goals of Vasicek in half the games.

very true. Phoenix has been know to break down defensively in the past, though im just saying its going to be tough with Coju in net. Though I guess we've all seen what the Carolina offense can do.

ok ok 3 wont be much easier if Ward doesnt stop giving up those juicy rebounds.

EDIT:
What a beauty of a goal from Staal. Wow. We need to stop taking these stupid penalties too. I mean really.

He's got a knee injury.

This one's over. They're not scoring 4 goals on Joseph. It took a lot of lucky tips to score 4 on Hedberg.

Probably.

Too bad JWill didn't score. 4 goals on Joseph should have been enough to beat this team. Pathetically played. I hope they feel embarassed. I hope they play in Anaheim like Phoenix played tonight.
