The Kings special teams have taken a plummet over the past four-game losing streak.

They are 2 for 25 on the powerplay (although the powerplay struggle extends beyond the past four games). Two shorthanded goals have been scored against the Kings. A telling statistic of how terrible the Kings have been with the man-advantage.

The PK unit has surrendered 8 powerplay goals in 23 shorthanded situations over that stretch.

It's time to go back to the drawing board for the coaches and players.

Please let someone try and defend Corvo after this game.

If it takes firing AM to get rid of JVB, then so be it. Our PP hasn't been good since Tippett was running it, even though we've had more than capable players on the PP since then.

I'm off to get plastered. 4 games isn't as bad as the 11 game skid, but we're well on our way!

Tell me about it. I stay away from fights nowadays, but I might be looking for one tonight!

If I'm not back posting tomorrow, it's because I'm in jail.

22nd on the PP and 17th on the PK, both on the season, are percentages that teams out of the playoffs have.

if i recall correctly, no team in the last 20 years or so has won the cup without being in the top ten in both categories...

The Flyers had better get with it, then, if they want to win the Cup. They're dead last in PK% in the league

I'm not normally as critical as most of Corvo. But that play looked pretty unflattering. It looked like he started to go after the man who got by him and then just decided not to.

I grew up in TX, but I've been here for several years. I must admit, it is better here! I must admit that I'm pulling for my Horns to meet up with USC in the Rose Bowl. Then watch out - I will turn into a total UT Homer.

All in all, Austin is a GREAT city, they should love it there. You just have to get past the politics as it is the State Capitol. There are a lot of great things about Austin, some of my best times spent there, ergo my sig "Hook 'em Horns". The only part of the state that I would even consider moving back to is the Hill Country, which is not far from there. Lots of land, etc. I was born and raised in TX and lived in all parts of the State. I chalk my love of hockey up to genetics - my paternal grandmother was French Canadian. Talk about a fish out of water...

Reaper: Never thought I'd see someone as high as you are about Souray

What would the Kings offer for him? We're really thin on D as well, we need a good offensive puck moving D that isn't a defensive liability and those are rare nowadays.

We need a tough defenseman like Souray, and one with a booming shot, like Souray. He's proven he can put up points, and he can eat up minutes which is important when we have guys like Corvo and Weaver playing.

Honestly we have 3 puck moving d-men, Corvo, Lubo who is untouchable imo, and Dempsey. Dempsey isn't as bad as Corvo, but he gets knocked for defensive lapses. Grebeshkov is in the minors, and he could be had I guess.

I think you guys are looking at the mistake Corvo made. (I thought it was Conroy who got the shot blocked.) I thought Corvo looked great tonight. No?

a guy who's performance i found particularly offensive tonight was demitra. the guy was invisible, and when he wasn't he was displaying a staggering lack of effort. he may have all the talent in the world, but he was completely useless tonight.

the lack of hustle was a team-wide problem, and the kings didn't win a single battle for a loose puck, which is why they were utterly unable to sustain any kind of offensive pressure.

like many others around here, i'm ready for a trade. the team needs a shakeup, and they badly need another quality defenseman. i'm not convinced of the need for another forward, especially with both roenick and tambellini sitting tonight. while roenick has been unimpressive to say the least, i'm not quite ready to give up on him yet. he has had moments of effectiveness, but i think he needs a good passer to feed him the puck so that he can just fire away. his decision-making has been really suspect, but i think he's still effective as a shooter.
