Matt Ellison!

If you want to know about what Matty brings to the table, I am the right guy to talk to. I am from the same home town as Matty and watched him play Tier II Junior A hockey here for a couple of years. Matt has moved through the system very quickly, so he definitely has talent. The kid definitely has an offensive upside, but has a lot of learning to do at the NHL level. I personally like him better than Sharp and he is way more versatile of a player. He can play any forward position and the point on the powerplay. I love seeing a local kid playing on the Flyers and hopefully he can put up some decent numbers. It isn't going to take much to out produce Sharp. Go Flyers and Go Matty!!

Matty is horrible. How much does he make. Surely it can't be much more than Eager. If so-maybe we could get Eager in to the lineup because he hits and is willing to fight- waive Brashear, and let Matty pass thw water bottles out. To say that he is a better player than Sharp is foolish. It was a salary dump, it was the pick that the Flyers wanted. Matty is more justifiable in the minors that Sharp, so don't give the "what does Matty bring to the table" nonsense - that is just foolish.

He should play on Handzus line just because of his hair. He can not finish he can pass and kill penalty and hard working guy.

How is it a salary dump when Ellison earns more than Sharp?

First of all he is a rookie and let's let him play more then 2 game before we label him as Horrible.

I like Sharp more than Ellisin (so far), but we had to get someone who could win a faceoff in our own end, and I think he is an upgrade there.

People are so critical. Give the kid a break it was his 2nd game on a new team and he is a rookie to boot. Carter played just as good if not worse in his first few games as a Flyer. Do you want to send him down? And how could it be a salary dump when he makes more than Sharp?

What are you talking about? Ellisin will take face offs? He is a RW.

At first I was surprised, noticed your avatar and ......... I have no problems.

I WANT SHARPIE BACK. Sharp knows more of what he is doing than Matt Ellison will ever know. He can't do much.

I love it when fans get this worked up over such a small trade. Neither of these players are difference makers, either way.

It never hurts to have too much flexibility.

The same question might have been asked about Kapanen on D 3 years ago.
