Countdown till I become a "New Yorker"

7 Days...

Will not disown my Cubbies.

Will be accepting of the New York "style" of pizza.

Discuss!

Shouldn't you be on the politics board? There are always conservatives in need of a good beating.

Get back to work, loafer!

Becoming a "New Yorker" is the best thing that could happen, but it's a birthright, not a city move, as for the Pizza, Ray's original.

Being a New Yorker is a birthright.

but Ray's Original??

Isn't there hundreds of them?

Arthur Ave in the Bronx for some real Italian food, also some solid Pizza Places in Brooklyn and downtown Manhattan (little Italy)

Try them all

There are hundres of Ray's..

not sure if they're all 'originals' though. If you want New York pizza, a trip to Brooklyn to try three styles is a must: Grimaldi's (nice, thinnish brick overn), Spumoni Garden (the square drowned in red sauce), and Di Fara's (lotsa oil, lotsa bufala di mozzarella, combined with homemade sauce). Expect a wait for the first and third, one because lines in the winter can wrap around the corner, and the latter because the guy is so painfully slow and disorganized you'll swear everytimt you go there that you're walking out.

John's (on Bleeker), Grimaldi's, Patsy's (in Spanish Harlem), Lombardi's (just 'coz it's the original -- haven't been since it expanded) and Adrienne's ('coz you don't need to go to Queens to eat Nick's pizza there (and 'coz my cousin owns it )) are my favourites. For a slice, I love Joe's on Carmine Street (I want to release rats in the Abitino's that kicked Joe's off the corner of Bleeker).

Is there anywhere that serves Chicago-style pizza in NY, other than the Uno's chain? I'd like to try some...

Being a Pizza fanatic, your forcing my hand a little. The search for the perfect Pizza in New York has been a lifetime hobby of mine. Fortunately the search never ends. Whenever I'm in town I try some old favorites and try to find some new ones.

I'd suggest you begin at the beginning:

http://www.lombardispizza.com/pages/3/index.htm

There are many other spots to check out, but this one ain't bad. Plus you get to check out the whole area as a result of your search. Welcome to the capital of the world!!!

A few weeks ago...

Lombardi's was having $0.10 slices...I missed out. I forget what for, but it was an anniversary. I want to say 100, but I thought they were around since before the turn of the century.

Hey guys, I love a pizza more than anything else in the world (except for my wife), but I am not going to disown my love for a Chicago pie. But keep them coming, cause I will take note of this stuff. I will have some spare time on my hands since the wife isnt moving up till the end of February.

Disclaimer: I love the New York slice very much, dont attack me!

It isn't as much fun anymore to beat up on the conservatives. They had full reign of this country for eight years, and they managed to screw things up pretty badly, and none of them are drinkng the Kool-aid anymore, so it isnt as fun to toy with their brainwashed selves...

I really am not a fan of any particular hockey team anymore, except I am quietly rooting for the Senators due to family friendships.

But I enjy watching the Rangers play, pretty exciting hockey to say the least.
