This would not have happened without Gainey's leadership. He didn't mince words, and the boo-birds needed to have attention called to them, which is anathema to them. I don't know what Andre Savard and Pierre Boivin were doing all this time, while it was going on. They had their heads in the sand, instead of nipping it in the bud.

On another note, I've often found that Montrealers were a bit trigger-happy when it came time to give standing ovations. They love giving standing ovations. Now that I'm living in Japan, I'm confronted with the contrast in audiences everytime I go to an event: people here are as parcimonious with their cheer as Montrealers are effusive with theirs.

Duh... A minority boos Brisebois... A silent majority doesn't agree... Gainey goes public and points out the obvious... The majority is no more silent... They decide to show their support to Brisebois (who's taking **** for nothing from a couple of morons) to counter the negative effect those given morons had on him for years...

What the hell is hypocritical here aside from Lanny MacDonald and his obvious goal to take an other shot at hab fans? Hopeless...

We call that respect, something you dont seem to know...

If you were a little retarted who boo a player for no reason.. and your Idol comes to you and say: stop it, what would you do?!

Also dont forget that most of the "fans" who boo Brisebois are very easy to influence... most of them just read papers and believe all they read in them..

So, no i dont think is pathetic or anything like that.. but more respect to a player who work is ass off all is career in Montreal. the only thing i think is pathetic is you... i mean I would have tought a veteran like you would be smarter than that..

When the team comes off a shutout win in Toronto, it would be stupid to start booing your teams players when they are introduced. And seeing how the team performed tonight this cheering thing might not be all that bad. The team is doing very well for themselves at the start of the season and hopefully the fans will want to keep pushing them instead of trying to sink a particular player.

It sure didn't hurt the Canadians tonight eh! If Brisebois plays all year the way he played tonight, I'll give him a standing ovation for getting up in the morning.

Yup, the habs look pretty good so far in the season (2-1), losing to the Mighty Sens only. Lets hope the habs can build a winning streak(2 and counting)

i have to admitt they look pretty good the last two games as well, as long as they keep up the good play you never know how far they can go in the East. Anything can happen over there.

Positives early in the season for the habs:

Ryder got his first career goal and has impressed a lot
Hainsey got his first career goal
Theodore is back on his game and looks solid
The defense has been active in the scoring (Souray, Hainsey, Quintal)

Let it be reminded though, that it is only 3 games.....lets hope it continues

I agree with you when you say anything can happen in the east. I would not want to play Ottawa or New Jersey in the playoffs though......Philly is a very good team, but i would prefer them or a team like Boston/Tampa over the big 2

It's generally been a minority that's booed Malakhov, then Brisebois. And it's nothing new to have the majority then cheer for Brisebois to drown out the boos whenever he touches the puck. This happened on several occasions in games I went to over the last couple of years, but seemed to go unreported in the media.
