With Richter retired, I'd have to go with Hasek. He WAS the best before he retired, he'll be the best again now.

Honorable mention to Brodeur.

I'm going with pang Seriously, though it depends on whos shooting--Is he a deker or more like, was it reichel last year in the PO's with that goofy long attempt?

If it's Reichel's shot I send in Turek. (And it still goes in!)

Ditto, what BruinsGirl said. I got to see one of the shots live, last year in San Jose. It was against Patrick Marleau. I was happy that he stopped it and now my occasional nickname among my friends is traitor. I don't mind, though! It was great!

After seeing what Hasek did against Canada in the '98 Olympics, I'd say he's the goalie to beat when it comes to breakaways.

Didn't know that Shields stopped all 6 penalty shots he faced...Impressive!

Got to go with Hasek on this one.

In the 1996 World Cup Richter stopped all of those same players and they were all 2 years younger and 90% of them had just come off better seasons statistically

Is Hasek the better goalie? hands down yes, but on PS Richter is absolutely the man in nets.

There's a lot of people not watching Theodore or not watching him objectively. The guy totally sucks when he's one on one against another player.

By the way, Hasek was (I'm pretty sure he's still) the king of the king in that very departement.

Im going to go with The Bulin Wall. Very good on breakaways, and even 2 on 0's.

How about you dont like him at all...

Theodore would not be my first choice either. But it would be because of size considerations (with butterfly), certainly not because he sucks...

He's at Least "pretty good" in that department.

Hasek have something worth more than all other considerations: His special style makes him hard to predict. Butterfly style?, stay up style?, "seems to fall on the ice while not" style?...

D'oh! Thats what I was going to say.

Other than Fleury (), I'd say Brodeur or Turco, well, not so much Turco anymore (2nd goal vs. Buffalo was pathetic).
