Question Re:Roster Limits

If my memory serves me correct didnt they change the size of the active roster back in the late 80's/early 90's? I seem to remember that this change reduced the roster size by one player. I dont remember if this was for players on the bench or players allowed on the active roster but I seem to remember this happening.

Any help greatly appreciated.

For the 82-83 season the roster was raised from 17 skaters and 2 goalies to 18 skaters and 2 goalies. I believe the only time the roster limit was reduced was during WWII.
