Flyers install new goal horns

They sound like TB's now:

The Philadelphia Flyers have installed two S-203C air horns, primarily used as navigational signals on the largest ocean-bound ships, to enhance goal celebrations to record-breaking levels inside the Wachovia Center. Once triggered, the sound pressure level will exceed 140dB, producing a powerful, low frequency blast, reminiscent of a cruise ship.

For a sample of the sound, click here.

"Flyers fans have always been the best and the loudest and we wanted to give them even more to be excited about," said Flyers Vice President of Marketing and Communications Shawn Tilger. "We're always looking for new ways of enhancing our game experience and we were able to acquire these new horns directly from the ship manufacturer."

The new goal horns will make their debut on Tuesday, December 6 at 7 p.m. when the Flyers host the Calgary Flames.

Only 140db? I want more. MORE!

EDIT: I misread that. It will exceed 140db. Now that's what I'm talking about.

What was the old horn supposed to be, anyways?

I'm wondering because the Flames use that one.
