Kindl named to Czech team

http://www.iihf.com/Hydra/Tournament...ZE_33_1_0.html

So, here's how it shakes down so far, some are still preliminary I think and will be cut:

Sweden
Made it: Axelsson, Ryno, Ritola
Didn't make it: Lofberg, Backstrom

Finland
Didn't make it: Mielonen(hurt)

Czech
Made it: Kindl

Canada
Didn't make it: McGrath and a bunch of guys who weren't considered.

USA
Didn't Make it: Abdelkader, Haskins

Belarus
Made it: Kolosau (confirmed, I believe)

Russia:
Didn't Make it: Stolyarov

I think you're underestimating the big kid. He was on one of their international team's awhile back and I remember him drawing raves for his physical presence and his willingness to put the body on people. It would be nice to see a big, punishing blueliner come up through the system.

I personaly questioned the Kindl pick myself thinking we had another weak-offensive risky Dman pick in the past draft but this kid is looking like a bonafide stud

Koleslaw had a good WJC last year, I believe. He had the check of the tournament on Fritsche, too.

They should give up on Backstrom now. If this were the old days and they could keep his rights till he was 24, it would be ok, but it's clear he's on the same type of timetable Franzen was. And that does the Wings absolutely no good.

Ditto for Stolyarov. Neither were bad picks since they came so late, but they're duds nonetheless.

Axelsson and Ryno look like keepers. Apparently posters from Sweden who have seen them play like their games. Hopefully we'll see them in GR in the next year or two, or at least signed while they play in Sweden so we don't lose their rights.

Kindl looks good. Pretty good pick thus far. Abelkader worries me, especially since GL could be special. RR!

McGrath and Haskins both look like players that can put up some points, but scouts seem to worry about McGrath's concentration and Haskins' lack of strength. We'll see how McGrath does in GR next year, and then we'll know more.
