lines assuming current roster at full health

Hey board

A pipe dream at this point, but if we ever got our team all playing together, what should the line combos be 5 on 5?

How about:

Gagne-Forsberg-Richards
Kapanen-Primeau-Knuble
Handzus-Carter-Sim
Savage-Ellison-Stevenson

Firstly, Knuble won't be moved off the top line and Richards will play centre. It's a toss-up whether Umberger stays or goes. I hope he stays. If not, any one of Radio, Savage or Ellison could fill in there. I also think Brashear stays in the lineup because of his contract.

Gagne-Forsberg-Knuble
Kapanen-Richards-Handzus
Umberger-Carter-Sim
Brashear-Primeau-Stevenson

However, this is a long ways away.

Gagne // Forsberg // Knuble
Sim // Richards // Handzus
Kapanen // Primeau // Stevenson
Ellison/Brashear // Carter // Radio

Johnsson // Hatcher
Pitkanen // Rathje
Rico // Therien/Seids

Esche / Nitty

1) i hate Brashear.

2) i would like to see Umberger stay with the squad... maybe replace Sim.

3) question... given that players are not paid during the playoffs, can you exceed the cap come playoff time by calling up contracts from the AHL and whatnot that may have pushed you over if they were on the team during the regular season if you are right on the cusp?

Like you said....a pipe dream.

Gagne-Forsberg-Knuble
Hanzus-Richards-Kapanen
Umberger-Carter-Radio
Eager-Primeau-Stevenson

Pitkanen-Rathje
Rico-Hatcher (this pairing has been pretty outstanding)
Johnsson-Jones (Therien's good in the lockerroom, let's keep him there.)

Brashear and Stevenson are almost DEFINITELY in the lineup over Eager/Ellison... maybe even Umberger. Kapanen/Primeau are one of Hitch's pairings when they're both healthy too.

I know and I'm dreading it, Eager and Umberger have brought a considerable amount of energy to this team. If we didn't have this aggressive new blood coming in we would have been sank.

I'm going to switch Ellison with Stevenson because we need someone to work on the PK. Although it did suck alot worse when Turner was on it.

i'd really like to see Umberger stay on as a LW... but if he goes back to the phantoms he NEEDS to be playing LW down there to continue to develop as that is his position on our team as of now.

who knows... we shall see what happens.

For What it's worth

Gagne-Forsberg-Knuble
Hanzus-Richards-Kapanen
Eager-Primeau-Stevenson
Sim-Carter-Umberger

In reality, I am ok with any lineup that does not include Therien or Brashear.

I would HATE to see Sim go. I love how he crashes the net every time he's on the ice and I love how he annoys the hell out of the other teams goaltenders. Feisty little guy.

So it seems that people are favoring keeping both Richards and Carter at center even with everyone healthy. I disagree with that.

I feel it's more important that they both get about the equivalent amount of ice time rather than allow one to languish on a fourth line even-strength, especially when the playoffs come along when having three solid lines is absolutely critical.

Thoughts?

Preems won't be playing come playoff time... mentally prepare for this event.

Carter will not be on the 4th line as Primeau will not be returning to the team.
It would be nice to see what he could do on the top line but centering Umberger and Sami isn't that far a drop from centering Handzus and Sim.

I totally agree. At the start of the year I thought no way should this guy make the team, but I've really come to like what he brings.
