Hmmm...
Has Leopold struggled this year?
I don't think Calgary wants to boost their payroll that much anyways.
Any chance for a LeClair for Leopold trade instead?

You have got to be joking? Name one team in the entire league that gives up a young, still improving top pairing dman for an over the hill, soon to retire winger. While we're at it, the Flames will send Marchment the other way for Crosby.

Palffy is hardly over the hill nor close to retiring.

I can't see either team making the trade since it just doesn't make sense. Palffy isn't a Suter player. But the value isn't bad.

I think he was referring to Leclair, per DrK's counter offer.

I agree, value isn't bad but it does not make a lot of sense.

You should do a better job reading messages instead of rushing to jump all over someone. I was talking about LeClair.

I don't thinkt he value is all that great either. If Calgary was willing to pay Palffy, the could have just signed him in the off season and then not had to give up a young dman. This deal wouldn't make any sense for Calgary.

A more likely deal is Marchment for Ryan Malone, or Jason Weimer for Brooks Orpik.

Didn't some tool propose a similar trade earlier this week? Why do we need Ziggy Palffy when we have Iggy as our 1st-line RW, and why do we have to give up Leopold to get him? And this is totally disregarding salary issues as well, which will just make the "no" that much more pronounced.

Although as a Flames fan I enjoy dreaming about those trades there is no way possible the Penguins are going to make those type of trades if the want to remain in Pitsburgh.

neither of those are likely at all. the penguins have enough fringe, physical defenseman and if they really wanted marchment they would have signed him during the summer instead of odelein and poapst. giving up the hometown boy seems far-fetched for a 36 year old defenseman.

but it's probably just as foolish for the pens to think about being able to make the original trade proposal. there's enough offensive defenseman that aren't known for their work in their own end. why bring another in? and palffy seems far from a sutter-esque player.
