Rumor floating around Vancouver (radio)

Ah yes, the joys of rumors.

The rumor, according to Mojo Radio in Vancouver is as follows.

To Vancouver: Richards, Carter and Esche

To Philly: Bertuzzi, Cloutier

Supposedly, with the good play of R.J Umberger, Richards 'could' be moved...

I jump all over this as a Canuck fan, however I believe that Philly would be hesitant to give up Richards and Carter; however with a healthy Philly lineup, Bertuzzi (even minus Richards and Carter) on the forward lineup would make them dominant.

Theres only one GM in this division that would make that move and it's not Bobby.

And don't get me started on the cap issues!

Hahahahahahah...hahahahahahahah. There are very few players the flyers would move either of these guys for and fewer players they'd move both for. Bertuzzi is not one of them, not even close to one of them. Now if it were Naslund and some of his salary paid + a solid defenseman, then I would think about it (because the idea of Gagne-Forsberg-Naslund would have the rest of the NHL frightening). But why would the Flyers trade their future for a guy like Bertuzzi, when plenty of skilled wingers will be available at the deadline (granted, not of Bertuzzi's caliber) for much cheaper and much less salary counting against the cap.

Which brings us to our next problem. Esche is signed through next season at 1 mil, Cloutier makes significantly more. Carter and Richards combined make less then 2 mil, Bertuzzi makes considerably more than that. And the flyers are very close to the cap, so again, the deal doesn't work.

Furthermore, why would Vancouver want Esche and why would the Flyers have any interest what so ever in Cloutier? I just can't see it either way.

If the Flyers were going to make a move and trade either Carter or Richards, I'd expect a guy in his mid 20's, probably a real real good defenseman who has a low salary. I.E. unless the Flyers get blown away for either of these guys, they won't be moving either.

I can't believe I spent that much time entertaining such a ridiculous idea.

Me thinks Mojo was reading through the Rumor Forums on this website or on forum.canucks.com again.

Cloutier isn't going anywhere until his knee is healed.

Agreed. Just why, why would this make any sense. It makes no sense, it is nonsense and nonsensical all at the same time. Esche is at least equal to Cloutier, if not better. Richards and Carter for Bertuzzi? Huh? Again, I don't get it. But I do wish that I too got paid to allow such anal leakage on to the radio.
