Exactly, we have to ride the hot goalie for as long as it lasts. Besides, Theo still has a lot to prove after his subpar season of a year ago.

I would go with Garon VS Pitsburgh. Give a rest to Theo and come back with him VS Toronto and Detroit. Then will will see, to soon to go further.

I say play Jose against Pittsburgh to up his confidence. Then, play him again against Toronto and Detroit.

Maybe put Garon in for Toronto, if Jose is tired, b/c we know Toronto won't be able to score no matter who's in net :p. hehe

I've noticed that early this year, a lot of teams have played their backup keepers already. So maybe, the Habs will play Garon in one of the three games.

I think Garon will be playing tomorrow night to give Theo a break.

I assume Theo plays tomorrow, and unless he has a brutal game, he'll play Saturday as well. Don't see Garon getting a start (if Theo keeps up the solid play) til late October (27th or 28th).

Why does Theo need a rest? He's only played 3 games spread over 7 days. If we're winning and Theo is playing well, let him play. He still needs to get some confidence back. At this point back to back games are the only situation where Garon should get a start.

I'd love to see Theo play 70 (or more) games this year.

They said he will play around 55 to 60 games, not 70. With a quality n2 in Garon, he needs to play, just like our others young players.

If Theo is set to play around 60 games this year than Garon should see a game after every 7-8 games that Theo plays ...

Exactly.
If theo is tired after playing 3 games, then all that training he did over the summer must be in vain.

I am still hoping they play him more than 60 games. Seems pointless to pay a guy huge money to only play 60 games. If we're going to make the playoffs this year, it will be Theo that gets us there, not Garon. I couldn't care less about Garon getting games in, Theo is our future in net for the next 10 years, Garon is a career backup/trade bait.

Play Garon thursday. The announcers will get confused with Charon and Garon as the goalies.

I would do that too.. even if Theo is great right now.. It's better to have Garon vs Pittsburgh and Charon than Toronto or Detroit IMO...

Well, if we do get to the playoffs, do you want a wore out Theodore in net, or a rested Theodore? I don't think that the time is right for Theo to come out of the net just yet, as the games have been spread out, but he should NOT start anymore than 60 regular season games this year. If we are in a playoff spot at the conclusion of the regular season, it will be well worth it having Theodore on the top of his game. Garon will have to get his chances to play, just not right now. There will be back-to-back games that he and Theo can split the duties on, as well as times when Theo has not had his "A" game the night before.

In 2001-2002, anytime Theo played poor or average in a game, he'd gradually get better with each game until he was virtually unbeatable. Then the cycle would begin again.

So far we're seeing the same... he's playing better with each game. He has to string some games together. Playing Garon right now I think would set Theo back. Not a good idea. Let Theo run with it.

The thing is, if we rest Theo too much we won't make the playoffs. What's the point of resting him if we don't make it? I don't buy for a second that he would be too tired playing 70 games anyway. He's an elite, world class athlete, he can handle it. Lots of goalies play that many games. Brodeur has played over 70 every year since 1995 (except 96 where he played 67) and often goes far in the playoffs. No one ever accuses him of being too tired.

And like Medicine Twin just mentioned, Theo seems to bounce back and have super games after poor ones. We need to keep him in a rythym. Theo needs to prove he is the superstar we all think he is and the only way to do this is by shouldering the load and playing almost every game.
