Can't wait for them each to play behind Thorburn on the depth chart!

Lets all hope the day comes when the "glue" guys can also play hockey. Or at least slotted into the lineup in a skill appropriate level.

Are Thorburn and Stuart "glue" guys because we are "stuck" with them

and why would Wheeler be a third line player in 3 years?

After watching the Moose again today Im convinced Petan will be middle six PP specialist in two years and JMo will be on this squad but maybe on third pair, his dzone game needs to improve to face tougher matchups.

Because by the start of that season he will be 33 and Ehlers and Armia will be better than him.

That day could be any day. Chevy says 'No.'

I have no clue what they glue anyways - except maybe the Jets to the bottom of the standings.

I've seen a lot of Roslovic in this thread. Is he pro ready already? I thought he'd need another year or two in college first.

You think Pavelec will be re-signed for the 2017-2018 season?

Roslovic should make the 4th line by 2017, shouldn't he?

The reason I have Copp on the 3rd is because Maurice said he sees Copp pushing his way onto the 3rd line in a center or left wing position in time.

I've got Perreault on there so he has re-signed. I'd offer 17m or so over 4 years.

It is Little's last year of his current deal so he is still center.

Ehlers Scheif Wheeler speeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed

Connor Little Armia a defensively smart line that can get you points

Copp Perreault Stafford see above

Lemieux Lowry Roslovic a great 4th line with Roslovic moving up as he develops

Enstrom - Trouba
(someone like Hamonic but a LHD) - Buff
Morrissey - Hamonic

Helle/Comrie

Why are the Islanders your team?

You can't give up on Petan. It's too early and he has too much promise. Myers looks to me like he's still ascending. I don't think he's reached his peak yet so I would hold on to him as well.

We need to go after a legit LHD first.

That is what we get back in the deal for Ladd. Give up Ladd plus ? for a good LHD.
I'd trade Petan and Myers every day of the week for Hamonic. Hamonic is an easier caphit too.

I'm all in on getting who we can for Laddy so a LHD coming back would be very good. We'll have to agree to disagree on the latter point.

My stab at the 17-18 lineup:

Ehlers-Scheif-Wheeler
Connor-Little-Armia
MP-2016 1st OV pick-Roslovic
Lowry-Copp-Lemieux
Lipon/Peluso

Truoba-Buff
Toby-Myers
Morrissey-Postma
Chariot

Helly
Comrie

I think we trade Comrie in part of a package for an NHL superstar around that time.

Zing!

You always hear platitudes from NHL players about how those glue guys give them energy, how face punchers make them play bigger and tougher, etc.

Wonder if they've ever considered that whatever psychological advantage those players provide would be more than offset by dressing someone who can actually play hockey.

I think Comrie is here until his RFA time is up and then they will have to make a decision on which goalie to go with.

Yeah Comrie could very well be pushing for Helle's backup over Pavs when his contract is up in 2017-18. They'd be one hell of a tandem to have. As long as neither of them commands to much.

One big decision to come this offseason that has received very little attention so far is the fate of Matthieu Perreault. He may be the steal of the century at $3m per year, but this summer will be the time to extend and what will he want? He offers a lot of flexibility to the team due to his ability to play both Centre and Wing effectively. And what happens with MP may determine Little's fate over the following 12 months too.

Who is his agent?

Agreed, MP needs to extend ASAP. He is should be focused on way more as I really want him here going forward.
As for Comrie, I really like him as a prospect and think he has potential but some are anointing him a little too quickly. He still has a ways to go before he's an NHL regular.

Agreed on MP. Nice to sign him to something reasonable before he heads into his UFA year next season. Great combination of skill and versatility in the middle 6, that can jump to the 1st if needed.
