Gaborik to Ottawa [trade proposal]

(I realize this would be an unlikely deal, but I'm just talking hypothetically)

What would it take to get Gaborik to Ottawa for the playoff run? A prospect, plus a proven player, plus a pick?

Brandon Bochenski
Chirs Phillips
2nd Round draft pick

for

Marian Gaborik

(don't flame me if it's a bad deal! I'm new to this!)

Minnesota gets absolutely ***** in this deal. Riseborough would get shot if he made this deal.

I doubt they would even do that...Gaborik is an amazing player, not that I'm knocking either Meszaros or Eaves, I just think Gaborik is worth more

I think Mez + Havlat would be the package or something along that lines being discussed.

Gaborik and Kuba for Mez, Havlat and a pick (prospect)

Could we just move all these nonsense proposals (3 in last few days) to the appropriate board- either fantasy hockey, or the trade, free agent board?

umm... what?

I was merely replying to that horrible proposal.

Eaves and Meszaros for Gaborik is what it would take from Ottawa's perspective. I'm not saying its going to happen, or will happen. I was merely pointing out the trade values...

This would be the minimum trade to get Gaborik into Ottawa:

To Ottawa: Marian Gaborik

To Minnesota: Andrej Meszaros, Brian Lee, Patrick Eaves

eaves is nice...but he won't be a superstar...

Guys like patrick osullivan, voloshenko, pouliot, possibly even irmen....are gonna be as good as eaves IMO, so no reason to rush into this deal.

Meszaros is nice, but yeah.....

I'd nix this one.

I think some of you guys are overrating Gaborik at this point.

Yes he's a very good player, but I don't think he's in the A class with guys like Heatley. I think he's in the B class with guys like Martin Havlat, which is why I have to laugh when you say Havlat + a top line prospect or even 3 top line prospects.

Just my opinion though.

How many potential max salary players can Ottawa afford? I think they'll have their hands full trying to ink Chara and Redden. That team doesn't even need Marian.

BTW not a chance in hell they move Gabby for a package like the original poster proposed.

try putting gabby on a line with a spezza or alffie or a kovalchuk or savard like heatley had in atl..

You will see a guy with atleast as many pts as heater has if not more.

how about this from a habs fan:

ryder, kostitsyn and an 06' first round pick
?

is that fair? what else would it take, if not enough. the only untouchable on the habs right now is andrei markov and saku koivu and i doubt you guys would want kovalevs contract.

i want no part of andrei kostitsyn...

osullivan, voloshenko are similar ages and outproducing him badly..

I'd also take pouliot over him.

kostitsyn is going to be a stud IMO, but hey this is just a proposal. would want tomas plekanec instead? or both?
make a counter offer.

it should also be noted that the hamilton bulldogs are the youngest team in the AHL, and kosts didn't have the luxury of playing with seasoned vets (oiler prospect, brad winchester). so if you're comparing his stats to sullivan, you should take understand that. plus kosts played a quite a few games in the NHL (with limited ice time).

trading gaborik makes completely no sense to the wild.

He helps sell the tickets, he's explosive, he's young, talented.

Why would we even think about trading him? These proposals should just end.

They aren't realistic and it's not gonna happen.

So no more gabby for prospects trades, WE HAVE PROSPECTS...only way gabby would be traded is for a bonafide young player, and quite frankly not many are on his level..

Not that there are many players within his age group/skill level, it's just these guys are not being dangled on the trading block either. What's the purpose of trading a young skilled player for others that have the potential to be young skilled players down the road? Because fans want them too?

The Wild will have more trouble with it's own fans if they start trading away all of their young players for even younger ones.

There aren't any proposals that make sense for Gaborik. There just aren't. To get Gabby, you need to give up more than you're willing to give.

Unproven guys, picks in a weak draft, and overpriced vets do not make sense in any combination.

I guess every team in the NHL is invaded by Ottawa fans. We got Joe Sakic for ____ in our board as well. Oh, and that fans said " keep in mind, he will only be a rental".

Heatley didn't play on a line with Kovalchuk or Savard in Atlanta, and still put up 89 points in his 2nd season.

Like I said, I still think Gaborik is a tremendous player, but he hasn't shown me that he is one of the best in the NHL. He's a B-Class star in my opinion.
