So I just heard there was an article in the Vancouver Province about the Canucks talking to Ottawa about sending Bertuzzi to Ottawa for Redden or Chara. Can anyone copy the article into here or give some context to this? I couldn't get it online.
And for the sake of argument, my personal opinion is that I might pull the trigger on the trade if it was Redden (not Chara) and something else was thrown into the pot. I have always liked Redden and he's a good D-man, but also a UFA, along with Chara, and the Sens Defense is looking good for the future.
I realize that this may make it tougher to ask for something else, but I think it is almost necessary to get at the very least a draft pick. This is just because of the way Bertuzzi has played this year and Ottawa would lose a great defenseman that is dedicated to his team to get a power forward not living up to his potential with rumours that he isn't playing for his team anymore, but MAY find his old form with a change of scenery.
It really wasn't an article it was probably two sentences in an article about Bertuzzi in general.
I'm sure if the Islanders had been in town, the Isles would have had discussions about Bertuzzi. I'm sure if the Stars had been in town, the Stars would have had discussions about Bertuzzi. etc, etc...
Hell, I see that today there are "rumours" that the Flyers are trying to swing a deal for Bertuzzi. Is it any coincidence that Philly is hosting Vancouver this week?
If I was a GM, I would ask about pretty much any star player in the league to see if there is a 'deal' out there, so who knows, but Bertuzzi to Ottawa is highly doubtful.
Thanks for the clarification. I would be very surprised to see Muckler make a deal like that. I always get curious though when the speculation makes it to TV.
CANUCKS
According to reports in a Vancouver paper, winger Todd Bertuzzi, citing differences with head coach Marc Crawford and simmering fallout over the Steve Moore incident, has requested a trade. Ottawa was mentioned as a possible suitor as the Sens may be willing to part with Wade Redden or Zdeno Chara rather than losing one of their top blueliners to free agency next summer.
I have always been a fan of Bertuzzi, despite the events 2 years ago. But Redden? Chara? Don't think so. I don't see why Ottawa would want to part with either of them, their defence is very solid, and that is important to their cup hopes, it would be a mistake to mess with that right now.
redden and chara are both ufa at the end of this year so, value wise, I think the deal is fair. The canucks are thin on defense (like 29 other nhl teams) and Nonis might have a line on a forward to fill bert's shoes.
This actually could work for the sens. I am not a huge bertuzzi fan but the sens would be a great situation for him and he may regain the form of 3 years ago.

That may be the case if Bertuzzi wasn't pulling in a whopping 5.3 million on his own.
Hossa was traded rather than pay him 6 million, and he's arguably much more consistent offensively and his work ethic is never questioned.
Bertuzzi is having a decent season, but is he worth 5.3 million when Alfredssson is making 4.6?
Just typical Vancity media blowing things out of proportion. Bertuzzi just came out and said he's never asked for a trade, and Muckler is too smart to start making big gambles on a team that is rolling along. Dumbest rumour of the year imo and that's saying something.
In other news, everyone always tells the truth to reporters.
this wasn't an interview where a reporter stuck a mic in Bertuzzi's face and asked him if he wanted a trade. Bertuzzi actually approached Dan Murphy of Sportsnet on the plane after seeing yet another trade rumour on the back of the Province and asked him where all this speculation was coming from. Murphy told him that reporters are forced rely on secondary sources to get their information since Todd wasn't talking about it. Bertuzzi then told him to go get his audio equipment because he was gonna talk now. You know what happened next.

If only the stock market played out as predictably as these threads...
Post: What do you guys think about this idea?
Responder, of favorite team being fleeced: That's a ridiculous idea. You're a loser. Responder to first responder, also of team being fleeced: Great post!!
...and so on.
If we disagree with what someone has written, there should be rules on how we respond, particularly when unprovoked or when malice is not apparent. Here, Slippy politely presented his or her opinion and asked for feedback. Instead, Slippy got spanked by people who didn't like the proposal. The poster, not the merit of the content of the post, was attacked. Do we want to bring the discussion up a notch or keep it at the level of a junior high study hall?
This is why we all have dogs and cats - to kick when we get home.
Bertuzzi SOUGHT OUT the media (Canucks play-by-play guy) and WANTED to clear the air about the bogus trade rumors. He does not want to leave Vancouver, or he would not have GONE OUT OF HIS WAY to do the interview.

I don't know, but this don't really help Canucks winning the cup. You need players like Bertuzzi in playoffs more than ever, when game gets more psychical and so on.
