This is the first and only chance to see Crosby, who some seem to think is the second coming of whatever hockey god you choose to think of.

Me, I prefer to win the game and give him a dose of reality.

LET'S GO RED WINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You dont think playing for the Pens has welcomed him to the reality of NHL hockey already? He has plenty of reality so far this year playing for that team.

Another reality is that he is as good as he was hyped to be in my opinion. He is 18 and already the best player on the team. He has been everything advertised. I like Crosby alot and I think he can do alot of good for the Pens and the NHL.

Ok...enough of that.

Wings win 5-1. Zetterberg stays hot.

Zetterberg with 2 goals and 2 assists
Homer gets a PP tally
Lidstrom with a goal and an assist
Sameulsson with a goal

Recchi for the Pens

From the Penguins website...

OLN will offer special features before and after Monday’s game featuring Darren McCarty and Mario Lemieux.

The network will first air “Darren McCarty: Homecoming” at 6:30 p.m. Produced by NHL Productions, the show takes a look at the former Red Wing and fan favorite during his recent return to Detroit (Dec. 1) with his new team, the Calgary Flames. NHL Productions followed Darren for two days – from the moment he arrived at the airport to his return home to spend time with his family as they prepared for the holidays. McCarty wore a wireless microphone during the Calgary-Detroit game where some colorful exchanges were captured between Darren and former teammates Brendan Shanahan and Matthew Schneider.

Immediately following the game at 10:00 p.m., OLN’s exclusive biographical series, “Fearless” will feature a one-hour look at Lemieux and his incredible journey of courage and strength while battling Hodgkin’s disease and other surgeries. The first-overall pick in the 1984 draft, Lemieux is approaching his 700th career goal milestone and has led the Penguins to two Stanley Cup championships. Fans can have a fist-hand look into Mario’s journey of recovery and triumph of returning to the game he loves.

The Penguins (8-15-6) are looking to sustain momentum gained in Saturday’s 4-3 win over Colorado. The victory snapped a six-game losing skid was the team’s most-complete performance, according to many players.

“I couldn’t be more happy for them, we finally can have a good night’s sleep and be ready to go on the road for two big games, one in Detroit and then going to St. Louis,” Penguins coach Eddie Olczyk said after Saturday’s win. “So, to build on that is to understand exactly what it took and whatever we did for the preparation at practice [Friday]. The players deserve all the accolades after a game like this. And we have to win more than one game, but considering the bounce back that we did, I am very proud of them.”

Again, the Penguins face no easy task in the Red Wings (20-8-2), who are the Western Conference’s top team with 42 points. Detroit is 5-4-1 in its last 10 games and 2-2 in its last four.

Pavel Datsyuk leads the Red Wings with 32 points (10+22), while Jason Williams has 31 (9+22). Henrik Zetterberg is next with 30 (13+17). Former Penguins Robert Lang and Mikael Samuelsson have 24 and 21 points, respectively.

Rookie Sidney Crosby leads the Penguins with 30 points (13+17). Ziggy Palffy is next with 28 points (10+18). Mark Recchi has 25 points (8+17). He broke a 10-game goal drought Saturday night.

Palffy did not play in Saturday’s win and is questionable for Monday’s game. John LeClair, who has 15 points (6+9) missed Saturday’s game as well and will not be in the lineup Monday.

I guess Yzerman tore his groin.

Should be a good one, looking forward to it.

6-2

the Fischer press conference will be a little bit of extra motivation for a night and it'll be against a mediocre team to begin with, so the Wings romp. Datsyuk and Z come up big and hudler will collect a couple of goals.

1-0 score is flattering for the Penguins. Fleury has been great.

For the Wings, Lidstrom, Zetterberg, Schneider, and the grind line have all looked great.

He started the game with Hudler and Shanahan. Williams has been on and off that line in place of Jiri at times.

Regardless of the close score I'm delighted with the way this game is going. The Wings are totally dominating everywhere on the ice.
