John Tortorella

I'm a Canucks fan so I have to hate him by default. He pretty much effed up our goalie situation (with Gillis' help) and now it seems like he's running Johansen out of town. Just wondering how he's viewed around here and what the consensus is on his part in ruining Johannes future in Columbus. If there is a similar thread to this feel free to close mods. Thank you!

let's think real hard for a second. perhaps because less than two years after the fact, he's coaching another NHL team?

I admit I haven't followed it closely, but Johansen hasn't been an angel in all this. Like, long before Torts arrived. He's been trying to maneuver himself out of town for awhile.

Go do research on the Jackets board. A lot of it goes back to September of 2014 and his restricted contract status. He wanted Tavares tier money. He wanted more than Benn. They told him to leave camp over it. I think there's still a ton of acrimony there and they expect a lot more from him. I think they brought in a hard *** coach to straighten crap out and he's one of the targets, but it hasn't worked out obviously.

The guy is a genius at marketing himself. Lots of hot air though and little results to talk about except of course for the Stanley Cup he won with TB. It's been a while though and since his success he failed with the Rangers and was a disaster with the Canucks. So far he has been less than impressive at the helm of the Jackets.

What made anyone think it would after Vancouver? Torts was a disaster, and I haven't seen anything to the contrary in Columbus to make me think otherwise. He's a decent motivator, and says a lot of good things. Too bad he does the exact opposite.

BTW, I place 99% of the blame with the goalies on Gillis. He made his bed when he shipped out Schneider. All Torts did was make him sleep in it.

I like him. I'm probably one of the only Canucks fans who liked the guy. He just wasn't a good fit here. I've always wanted to see Tortorella in Boston or Nashville. I think he would do wonders with those teams.

I like him.

I wold have loved him as a coach for the rest of the year for the pens if he wasn't hired.

Ye he doesn't like the organization however I think he'd smarten all te players up. Who better to coach Crosby then the coach he hates his guts?

It feels like if you fail in Canada we never hear the end of it on HF. We get it Canucks fans.

In 2013 or so Johansen got sent down to the AHL because of the attitude/effort thing. Sulked so much down there they benched him again in the A during their playoff run. Its been on again off again with that ever since from what I understand.

Owners like him because he draws media attention puts butts in seats (to the extent that a coach can). Riding the same wave as Rex Ryan at this point.

Wasn't CBJ 0-8 before they hired him, and about .500 now?
