This is a game day thread.

It's the highs and the lows of the game. It's the emotional responses to what happens on the ice.

Maybe you haven't seen enough of them, but that's what it is.

Wait until after the game for the reasoned responses.

This feels strangely like every other Western game we've played.

EDIT: Never mind. Schubert changes this.

And come on, where else can you ***** about it except in the game-day thread? Half this thread is calling our own players names and whining.

i dont know, i think this one is unique in the sense that we seem to be getting more chances than either of the other two, but arent burying them. This feels like a game against Boston, with alot of skill on the otherside, but we are still getting our chances.

I think we have to clean it up a bunch

Who's on the power play? The Avalanche just had two scoring chances in a row.

Your radio guys don't seem to be happy with Heatly, is he playing poorly?

I'm listening to the radio too. It sounds like he's playing poorly along the boards.

At least he's getting more chances than in previous games.

He's definitely improved since the 1st.

Heatley's playing pretty poorly overall.

He's now centering Alfie and Eaves with Smolinski out.

The line is working better without Smolinski.

Eaves > Bochenski...

Why was Bochenski moved up to the top unit and not Fisher? That was a little confusing to me.

Eh, don't worry about it. As an Avs fan even a mediocre Ottawa stlye PP would be great if the Avs could do it every game. The Avs are wildly inconsistent, they can either dominate a power play, or they can do what they did in Buffalo...get out shot and out chanced on their own PP. So just giving up a few chances, boy you guys got it easy.

By the way, how is Kolesnik playing from your guys's point of view?

hasnt been tested very much, been shaky on a few plays. It could be 4 or 5 goals in with a little luck right now, but Ottawa arent getting the bounces they had been getting earlier.

Good for him if he does. Sens could use the scoring.

Another center down in Smolinski. Doug Weight, where art thou?

Ballzy play be Smolinski going down to block that shot with his skid lid. The neck blood was quite moving. You can say what you want about Smolinki, but he's here for the year. I don't mind him in the playoffs for that reason right there. He has some heart. If only his paycheck wasn't so thick.

Alfredsson seems to be picking up, which means the team follows. He's like a barometer...you know when its going to rain 5 hours in advance.

Eaves is a beauty. I can see him sneeking onto my list in a few years time.

I'm off to the sac. Let me know how she goes.

I remember the days we had a log-jam in center and it looked like we couldn't POSSIBLY injure them all. And now look it. Even Bonk is out.

One thing I will say about the last 3 games:

We have seen what our defense-core is made of, and it is made of something good. Phillips, Schubert, Volchenkov, and Mez have all excelled (We already knew about Chara).

So if one day our defense is 100% healthy, is Schubert a part of it?

I am still waiting for Pothier to show me something that would make me think he will become an Andrew Ference type player, but I just dont see it happening. Schubert has more potential, and has shown more to this point, so i would say its a no brainer.

Pothier's been good since game 10 or game 15 as well. I think he'll stay in because of experience and PP duty.

PP duty? Pothier doesn't exactly help the powerplay by taking them offsides and icing it all the time.

I agree, and I honestly believe he could become a #4 defenseman in the future.

I had no idea he could skate so well.

Great skater with size to boot.
