GDT Chicago @ Carolina 12/13/05

@

Hawks (12-14-2, 26pts) vs Canes (18-9-2, 38pts)

The boys are back, starting a 5 game home stand tonight against the Khabby and the Hawks. It should be interesting to see how our PP matches with their PK (We are 8th on the PP and they are 11th on the PK), and both teams are strong after leading 2 periods (the Hawks are 7-0 and we are 11-0!) so this should be a really interesting game. Chicago recalled Barinka and Babcock from Norfolk to replace a few injured guys. And the biggest news...
Quote:
Defenseman Niclas Wallin, out 15 games with a wrist injury that required surgery, was cleared by doctors to return to the ice Monday and could be activated for today's game.
N&O

When its at: 7pm est
Where its at: RBC Center (Tonight is also a game where if you bring 2 cans of food, you get BOGO tickets!)
Where to see it: FSN South
Where to hear it: 102.9, or clicky me

Canes - 38 points, 1st place, Southeast Division

Penalty killing: 83.1 percent (187 for 225), 11th

Canes -
Power play: 19.4 percent (35 for 180), 8th

Cam Ward (6-3-1, 4.05)

2003-04 SEASON SERIES:
Canes, 1-0.

LAST MEETING:
March 17, 2004; Canes, 3-2. At Chicago, the Canes had a season-high 49 shots on goal, and Erik Cole scored the game-winner with 4:22 left in the third period.

ROAD/HOME RECORDS:
Blackhawks - 6-10-2 on the road
Canes - 9-4-0 at home

INJURIES:
Blackhawks- Todd Simpson suffered a leg injury Sunday and Jassen Cullimore is out with a groin problem. Left wing Eric Daze (back), center Tuomo Ruutu (back) are listed as day-to-day. Aucoin is also nursing a groin injury, and Vorobiev still has a sore ankle.
Canes- The knee boys (Ladd and Vasicek).

Probable goalies according to the N&O are Gerber and Khabby.

Quote:
The Hawks trained at the Hurricanes' frigid practice rink, and Yawney didn't think the conditions were conducive to players fighting groin injuries. That also figured in Aucoin being off the ice.How cold was it? "It was so cold that my lips froze to my whistle,'' Yawney said.
(Chicago Sun) If this was at the RBC and not the Rec, I hope they are trying to fix the ice from Disney On Ice this past weekend...it was a MESS on Sunday.

Thats about it for today....

LETS GO CANES!!

(And the flag is up, and I will be watching the game after my exams so we will see what happens this time.)

I swear, when was the last time Eric Daze dressed against us? It seems like it's been 3 seasons since I've seen that guy. :/

We at least have a chance. We're 9-5-1-1 in our last 16, and you guys are coming off of a road trip, right?

BTW, Vorobiev is no longer injured, and Hilbert is a game-time decision (groin). And Daze and Ruutu certainly are not day-to-day. Daze's more like year-to-year.

Otherwise, your GDT looks awesome.

According to the Chicago Sun, there was an article saying that his ankle was pretty sore still, and that there was possibly a small fracture. That was yesterday though I think.

And we have had two days off...since we play so well with just one day off maybe we will be TWICE as good tonight.

We haven't lost in over a week....(2 games)

And do you mean the Sun-Times cg? I can't find anything about Vorobiev still being injured.

If we lose then, the heat is no longer on me. It will all be your fault.

I'm always excited to play Chicago. They're a great franchise and I hope to see them recover in a big way once they get their situation straightend out.

works for me, I'm supersticious enough about my sports that I would probably believe that to begin with. Besides, it'll finally give me a reason to use Tweak as my avatar.

Aucoin will be a game time decision with the groin injury. With Cullimore and Simpson already out, if Aucoin doesnt play tonight the Hawks will dress 4 rookie dmen and 1 second year dman.

Rookie dmen are Seabrook, Keith, Babchuck and Barinka. Second year dman is Vandermeer and the only one vet is Spacek.

probably, although the N and O is notorious for being wrong in their picks for starting goalie.

Why can't either the Bulls or Hawks play defense?

Because the average age of the Hawks defense tonight is about 20?

Did Hutchinson get hurt (or maybe benched?). I noticed that he's not getting much playing time at all this period.
