Nathan Dempsey

I'm an east coast guy so its rare that I get to see the Kings in action. My question is what's going on with Nathan Dempsey? I see that he's been scratched for over 50% of the games. In the 12 games he played he had 4 assists and a +2. This along with his past history as a top 4 dman (or close to it) has me scratching my head.

I'm assuming stats don't tell the entire story, but why is he not a regular on your squad? Thanks for the help.

He has no face, no scalp, nothing. His entire head is bone.

That's all you need to know.

Are you implying he's a scarecrow?

Pretty much.

If worthlessness was a wing in the hospital, then Dr. Dempsey would establish his residency there.

I think most Kings fans are scratching their heads at how he was ever considered a top-4 dman or anchored a power play [even a crappy one like Chicago's], actually... On a team w/such a young defense, a career minor leaguer [Mike Weaver] has earned minutes over Dempsey by making fewer mistakes. Norstrom, Miller and Visnovsky ain't going anywhere, Gleason is our stud d-man of the future, and Corvo's having a career renaissance year- but there have still been minutes Dempsey could have snatched if he'd played better/smarter/more effectively.

as far as I know scarecrows aren't supposed to be made with human skulls...

I think that what you're putting in your corn field to fend off birds might just be illegal..

As for Dempsey, his stock has dropped significantly around here. Last year, many people thought he was a solid top-4 guy. However, he had a poor pre-season and has not been great when he's been in the line-up. He is now locked in a battle with Weaver for the # 6 spot.

And losing significant ground.... Only way he gets back in the lineup would be injuries. If/when it happens, he's got to show a BIG improvement to keep the spot.

Hi, there was this one movie called the Wizard of Oz. You might have heard of it. There's this girl (Dorothy) and her dog (Toto) who get whisked away by this tornado to an unfamiliar land. Mike Modano and his dog played this role in the movie.

They landed in this little munchkin land full of Cammalleris, Averys, and Weavers. The house landed on the Wicked Witch of the East, Jason Allison. Everyone was singing "Ding, Dong, the witch is dead!" because they didn't have to deal with that lousy witch anymore. But the Wicked Witch of the West, John Van Boxmeer, said "I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog, too!"

In order for Dorothy to return home, she had to meet the Wizard of Oz, Dave Taylor, who could trade her to wherever he wanted. She ran into Nathan Dempsey, who didn't have a brain; Jeremy Roenick, who didn't have a heart; and the Kings collective powerplay, who didn't have the courage to stand in front of the net, while on the way.

And thus, that is the scarecrow reference to Nathan Dempsey.

i think Dempsey can be pretty solid...but Weaver is getting the nod right now b/c the Kings take penalty after penality and Weaver supposedly specializes on the PK...but i wouldnt mind seeing dempsey back in there....

I agree. And if we were to acquire another defenseman, Dempsey and Corvo rotating at the # 6 spot would be fine with me.

That is the BEST post I've read in long time. Too good!
