Sami Salo for Peter Schaefer is the one I always think of when I think of these types of trades.

its funny that your example wasn't a one for one trade as DeVries went to ATL with Hossa.
Schaefer for Salo was a good one
what about Naslund for Stojanov?

A trade that helped both teams (Boston in the short run and the Flyers in the long run) was Pete Peeters for Brad McCrimmon in 1982.
Also (though it includes cash), Johnny Bucyk was traded by Detroit after his second NHL season to Boston for Terry Sawchuk in 1957.

Cam Neely for Barry Pederson. and if I remember correctly, Boston also got a first round draft choice which they use to draft Glen Wesley

without a doubt one of the best ever was Bucyk for Sawchuck, both all-stars, both Hall Of Famers, both have Stanley Cups. A real win/win for both teams !!!

It would be nice if people posted actual ONE FOR ONE trades here..
The best one for one deal was clearly Jay Henderson for Cory Larose

Right now you'd be hard-pressed to find a Kings fan who wasn't delighted with the Smolinski for Gleason trade.

The Espo/Park trade is prolly the best that's been mentioned. I can't think of any 1 for 1s that haven't been mentioned, so my vote goes there.

I think the Pronger/Shanahan swap has to take the cake in terms of trades involving active players. Two very possible Hall-of-Famers in a one-for-one trade scenario is pretty rare stuff.
