Ryder...

He started on the 4th, made his way up to the second and have been a threat offensively, while being defensively responsible and laying the body. He also made Perreault and Audette play with energy... that's something!

Couldn't have said it better. Ryder hands down.

I feel Theo should get an honourable mention. Although he hasn't been bombarded with shots, he's been solid when called upon. Always in position to stop the initial shot, just gotta control those rebounds!

Hainsey gets my vote. Most had him as a lock to be in Hamilton, yet he surprised and is playing 17:00 a game. He scored a beauty goal versus the Sens, and has consitently played physical, two way hockey.

Souray gets my vote. We only scored one short-handed goal all of last year, so getting one in the first week of this season is a big moment. Plus, he gets my sentimental vote for coming back and playing strong after missing all of last year.

José Théodore, he had so much pressure, and he was great.

I went with Theodore but Ryder is close second. He had a shacky game against the Sens but he had two great starts after that, especially against the Leafs. A 1.00 GAA after three games is pretty good and he showed that the summer events won't affect him. Theo's back in great shape.

Rivet should be on the list. The guy was absolutly flawless. It shows that he's no more injured. Also, he's on a great streak since the World Championships.

Ryder's been awesome too, he did bring some grit and heart. He also registred a great ammount of shots on the net, and his shot is great.

The best player has obviously been Mike Ribeiro. I won't vote on the poll for one simple reason, Rivet has been left out because he's hated, with logic beind this.

I'll say Ryder as well, although an honourable mention to Perreault is in order. Perreault has really looked good the past couple of games.

This is true!...I also thought Perreault looked pretty good these last two games but would also attribute some of his recent good playing to Ryder's inspirational play!...In a sense Ryder has been a leader for this team during the first three games!

I vote Ribeiro

With Ryder and Theo close seconds.
Well. Pretty much half the team after that are close thirds...

With 4-0 and 5-1 games after a 1 lost to the sens. It's pretty hard to find a player who have really been that bad after all...

I vote for Theo. He's been playing very well. Ryder is a close second though.

When was the last time a rookie came up with the habs and scored 3 points in his first 3 games? Answer, a while back.

Ryder gets my vote, he has shown a lot out there. He provides energy and a physical presence and has a knack for the net. Furthermore, he reads the play very well and positions himself nicely on the ice. Overall, he has been the habs best forward and best player and I hope he keeps it up for the reminder of the year. If he does, he's going to be a front runner in the calder race.

I voted Audette, because he seems to be back the same old Audette that AS had traded for. He shots alot and he has a lot of chances. Also he seems to prove thats last year was just a bad year and that hes not finish.

Marcel Hossa had 3 goals and 4 points in his first 5 games with the habs.

Ryder gets my vote. He played with energy, physically, offensively and defensicely and he deserves top honours!
Though I could also make an arguement for:

Theo - he played shaky the first game, but hasn't looked back after than and played very solidly.

Ribeiro - He's done a great job of heading the top line while Koivu was out, and is playing much better than I expected him to.

Hainsey - Sicne I figured he would be starting the year in Hamilton, and now he's getting loads of ice time with Montreal, that speaks volumes for his play.

Souray - What a comeback! A shorthanded goal, a big boost of energy, and some sandpaper added to the defense. A big shot in the arm.

Aside from the goals, hossa wasn't bringing much else to the table at the time. Overall, Ryder is bringing more intangibles to the rink, he is creating chances with his energy and grit, something Hossa never did. That was my point.

I guess my memory is sort of faulty, I didn't really remember much about hossa's streak last year. I guess it's because it was so short.
