At this point there more teams buyers to take a shoot at the cup and have not so big problems with the salary cap.At this time Burke gets the return he wants.
I can see a deal Hossa and Baranka and third rounder for Salei/Sykora. No way for ruccchin and Poti.
Baranka is not a player that I would trade for two players who are about to become ufa's. Sorry. Come up with something else.

Poti for Sykora mite happen.. maybeee

"Larry Brooks reports in today's Post that the Rangers can get Petr Sykora for Tom Poti, but "the Rangers are loathe to move Poti without getting a game-ready defenseman back." [Supply your own punch line here.] He says that concern could be rectified by expanding the deal to include defenseman Ruslan Salei in exchange for returning Steve Rucchin to Anaheim."

I think we are free to trade Poti for a solid 2nd Line RW... defense will be fine

I'm not convinced by this trade. Back when they were on the Devils and the Rangers, I thought of Sykora as a better version of Hlavac. These days I think of Sykora as, well, a better version of Hlavac.

This is a tempting trade to make but I'm not sure i make it. I would shop both Poti and Rucchin around. (which I'm pretty sure is being done but i'm no insider )

Just because the source is Brooks I won't dismiss the rumor but I can swear i saw it earlier in the year as somebodys trade idea??

yea, I don't think he's the kind of player we need. Poti and Rucchin help this team more than Sykora and Salei eventhough I don't like any of those 3 players.

Brooks is 50/50 on his rumors. I wouldnt disregard it complelety...but I wouldn't fully expect it either. When you compare Brooks to some other people out there..cough Eklund....cough...he isnt that bad.

Why would the Ducks take back Rucchin if they dealt him to begin with. Maybe something like this? Poti, Rachunek, Hossa to Ducks for Sykora and Salei?

People slag on Brooks and that's wrong. When he says "it's been rumored", then he's reporting a rumor.

When he postulates for an entire column on Mario Lemieux playing for the Rangers, he's thinking out loud. When he says "player X isn't happy, would the Blanks take player y and z in return? hmm...", he's thinking out loud.

People combine the two and that's just not correct.

That would be nice.. but we dont have Rachunek. I know he is somewhere in Europe (not sure where) piling up big numbers on defense. I think Poti and Hossa should be traded to provide some solid offense with Sykora, who was always a great player and just needs a change of scenery.

"We" have the rights to Rachunek so he can be traded.

I think getting Sykora for the right player (Hossa) would be a good idea. Im not against trading Poti for him, (personally i think thats a bunch of bull, because Anahiem doesnt want Poti, its just Brooks adding his name to the list to make it interesting because the Rangers will need a d-man back.) but i seriously doubt that will happen.

I wouldnt trade Rucchin. His defensively responsible and that goes a long way with this team.

I had mentioned Salei's at the start of the season and thought he would be a good fit with this club, though im not sure hoow you would swing the right deal.

What the Rangers need is a presence up front that can screen and score and a dman with a cannon and good defensive posture, not sure if youre getting all that with this trade proposal.

We can trade Rachunek's rights, but they won't add much value to any package, despite his talent, because he won't be able to play this season and there's no guarantee that he'll sign with another NHL team.

Anyone else wish Sykora would just get traded already...either to the Rangers or elsewhere? Talk about dragging something out!

Chemistry...

This is as we all know an important part of the Rangers team this year, however I highly doubt another Czech would have a problem clicking with this team. Especially when I read somewhere that Jags is pressuring Sather to make this deal.

I think the pieces being mentioned (Poti, Hossa, Rucchin) are all expendable... but this isn't the deal. What's coming back isn't a significant upgrade. We're in a good place to be patient and wait for better oppotunities. But I'm sick of Hossa right now especially... that spot needs to produce occasionally.
