Rangers' Toy Drive Today

http://www.newyorkrangers.com/pressb...es.asp?id=1824

Rangers fans will have a special opportunity to receive autographs from several members of the team while supporting the U.S. Marine Corps' Toys for Tots program this evening.

The event, scheduled for 4-7 p.m. at "The Pond" at Bryant Park, marks the 12th consecutive year that the New York Rangers organization has supported the Marine Corps efforts on behalf of Toys for Tots.

-------

I thought this deserved some attention since no one had posted it. Scheduled on hand are Poti, Weekes, Rucchin, Rucinsky, Strudwick, Straka, and Adam Graves.

Not sure if its a one-for-one swap toys for autograph, or 1 toy for all autographs. Hopefully there will be some kind of heat source. Gonna be a challenge with the cold for everyone involved.

last year at the espn zone it was just one toy to get in and meet them all. some people bought one fairly crappy drugstore toy and some people went over to toys-r-us and brought a bunch. i brought one for each player myself, because i wasn't positive either.

Parking? Sure if you've got 30 bucks to drop.

As an old Marine, I'm just asking that anyone who can go and give, please do so. All toys are appreciated.

Quick report from the toy drive:

Got there about 3:50pm. Got to the players at 6:20pm. Yea it was cold. As I was just about to get to where they were signing, Straka and Rucinsky left. So I got autographs from Graves, Rucchin and Poti.

Adam Graves is incredibly nice and engaging. He seemed interested in everyone whom he met, even 2.5 hours into it. He also thanks us for coming and thanked up for waiting in the cold.

Steve Rucchin is about what I expected: a pretty serious guy but by no means disinterested. And Tom Poti is a real nice quiet guy.

All in all I was a little put off that Straka and Rucinsky left, but who knows what schedule they were given. I think Poti and Ruccin got there after 4pm. And I wonder if there were others there before I got there?

sucked for me

i got there at around 6:30 and they had closed the line 40 minutes before that

i saw poti and rucchin signing, the window to the thing was open for viewing on the back end of the little structure

i have to say that place sucked, ice was horrible, everything was expensive (bring your own lock if you go, otherwise you gotta buy one of theirs for 5 bux)

rink was small, and it was SO COLD, stayed till about 8:40.... it was packed too

its cool that its free but eh.. also someone clipped two lockers there and stole wallets and stuff, cops were their briefly

anyway, did i mention how cold it was?
