It's the second-line (at least right now, as the Miettinen-Modano-Lehtinen line is hotter, and therefore the first line), but it's a combination of a wake-up call to Guerin and shifting parts to replace an injured Jussi Jokinen on the third-line.

Hopefully that hit put on by the Leafs player last game is a wake up call.
All he is right now is a moving target that costs way toooooooooooo much.

As pointed out before, The MAG line is really our second line. And Ott didn't even do that bad, actually. I like his game this year, a lot. He's a real pest without taking that many stupid penalties, stands up for teammates as indicated by his 7 fighting majors this year (4th in the league I believe) and shows good work ethic.

Still, the MAG line should remain intact, regardless of an underperforming Bill Guerin.

Antti Miettinen - Mike Modano - Jere Lehtinen
Brenden Morrow - Jason Arnott - Bill Guerin
Jussi Jokinen - Niko Kapanen - Stu Barnes
Niklas Hagman - Steve Ott - Tjärnqvist/Perrot

Not bad, but I wouldn't mind another veteran among our bottom six. They're a real young and unexperienced bunch without Barnes. A Roberts would be nice..

Is Ott still taking dumb penalties like he did all season long in Hamilton last year? (he cost us quite a few games..) How is Miettinen doing this year? Thought he was a great prospect last season.

How about the other Dallas prospects we had with Hamilton last year - how are they doing?

ok, i picked up ott in my pool for the PIM, and he's gone soft. is this his MO, to fight like every 3rd day? or are the stars getting serious now and not taking the penalties?

Habs13 - Ott is taking very, very few dumb penalties this year. It's one of the biggest changes in his game from the first few sesaon, where his MO was to take stupid penalties out of frustration or just brainfarts. Most of his PIMs are from fights early in the season. He's earned a little bit of time on the upper lines through his grit.

Other Hamilton prospects - Ellis is in Iowa pulling the jekyll/hyde routine that's plagued him for a while, splitting time with Mike Smith. Miettinen has been very good so far even if his numbers don't jump out at anyone. He's been playing on all the top three lines and really impressed. And Daley is a stud who seems to have figured out when to pinch/when to hang back. He's been really good this season.

And Heywood - most of Ott's PIMs happened at the beginning of the season when no one on the Stars was really a fighter, and the responsibility of matching up with the other team's goon went to him. In early November, the team picked up Nathan Perrott to fill that role and has also seen more of John Erskine (as Boucher is injured), both of whom have taken over the fighting duties from Ott. He's too small to fight on a consistant basis with the league heavyweights, though he's a very good feather/middleweight when he matches up wih guys like Tucker.
