Rookie Injuries

Im sorry but I was away for a few days.

Did Richards end up playing, if not how long is he out for?

I heard Carter didnt play. What happened to him? Is he going to miss more games?

Not that I think you cant win without them, I like watchign them.

You guys sure have alot of injured players.

Carter got 52 stitches in his ear ... I assume he'll play tomorrow, he just didn't make the trip. Richards doesn't have a concussion, but isn't cleared to play AFAIK, so he's day-to-day.

I wonder if they are officially saying he does not have a concussion in order to avoid having him out for a mandatory ten days (I could be wrong on the length). Not that they are going to risk much with a head injury, but it makes sense that they want to have the ability to play him if he is progressing well. We've seen them play these games before, most notably with Roenick and Primeau in the playoffs.

On the Canuck broadcast, the announcers mentioned that Richards had concussion(s) in Junior. One kept him out for a few weeks. So, definately, the Flyers, despite their depleted roster need to err on the side of caution here.

Any shot to the head, they just need to let the player recover before letting him come back to the lineup.

I certainly hope it's not a concussion, but if it was, then sit him until he's 100% ready to return.

Any official word on whether these guys are playing against Buffalo tonight? I was looking forward to seeing them.

His ear was partially torn off by an errant puck off the stick of Dennis Seidenberg.

Near the Flyers' blueline, Seidenberg made a high pass out of the zone. Carter, his back to Seidenberg, got hit from behind by the puck-- the puck ripped his ear from behind and came out the front side, still in the air.

Nasty, nasty injury.

Carter actually returned for one shift in the third period after having his ear re-attached.

No-- but a portion of his left ear had to be re-attached. The velocity of the puck (which didn't strike his helmet or head at all-- just the ear) literally ripped through the ear from behind, and the puck came out the front side.
