No issues with the signing, people complain about the length but he's a UFA and if it's true teams were calling about him then his agent likely feels he could get 3 years from another team. At 1.166 a year, it's cheap depth just like Flynn and Mitchell. Though if Lessio makes the team next year, him and Byron on the same line would be one of the fastest lines depending on who their Center was.

Byron is only 26 so at least we'll have his prime years.

What does being waived early this year have to do with the value of his new contract? You don't think that's a good contract for what Byron brings?

Oh well. Hardly matters, I guess. We're not winning squat with this management team in place, so the makeup of the roster is almost irrelevant.
L.A Kings

Kyle Clifford 5yrs/1.6m per season 1G
Jordan Nolan 3yrs/1m 0G

MONTREAL

Paul Byron 3yrs/1.2m 8 goals 3SH

Guess long term deals to 4th liners does exist, looks like we got the better of the 3

Guys like Byron are a dime a dozen and the fact that teams were actually willing to give us something to get him after we picked him up for free would have been like discovering plutonium by accident buttttt nooooooooo, we had to sign another midget to another long term contract. Honestly, this fascination with signing soft middling third and forth line midgets is beyond baffling, it is downright asinine. FOR GOD"S SAKE BERGEVIN WE NEED CENTERS WITH SIZE AND SKILL!!! STOP WASTING YOUR TIME WITH BOTTOM FEEDERS!!

Dumont and Lessio do not have his breakaway speed or hands...this deal is a no brainer

Its ok. Wish they would get some grit and toughness for some depth players as well. Hate how easy this team is to play against

Bergy wastes an inordinate amount of time on fourth liners.

Meh, whatever. I don't mind the signing. Would rather it be 2 years.

The Bergevin special. Can't do anything than sign and trade for bottom 6ers so why expect anything else guys.

So 8 goals and 3SH is not good enough for you? You'd do what, trade him for a 3rd pick that MAY become something in 6 years?

He wasn't just waived. He was waived earlier in the season and earned this contract. It's not like the Habs picked him off waivers yesterday and gave him a contract extension.

Let's analyze his body of work after the deadline

Good signing, but not something that had to be addressed right away. Bergevin better focus on the core of this team and work on upgrading the teams offense.

Funny thing is I already knew who'd be complaining...1.2 million for a guy that's one of the best SH specialist in the league when it comes to SH points....when you despise someone, it clouds your judgment when analyzing a good or bad signing.
Hate is like fog, it clouds judgement and the ability to make clear arguments. I don't agree with what mangement has done over this terrible stretch but to pick out minor stuff like this signing and complain about it is pushing it.

Mon dieu.

I can't even... I simply can't understand this lunatic.
I'm on the edge. Trade deadline could be my tipping point.

Lessio's speed isn't too far behind Byron's, and while neither have great hands, Lessio might not be too far behind Byron in that regard. It's his defense that the Habs wanted him to work on.

I'm expecting Bergevin to continue to ruin this team so hopefully I'm wrong.

So does MB resign DSP and Lessio as well? How do they fit 5 4th liners on the roster?
