So you see now that we're saying the same things?

We only disagreed on Medvescak. Jokerit and Medvescak may leave soon for different reasons.

Anyone found on the KHL forum is likely not intrinsically a KHL hater, just putting that out there.

here's an article saying medvesčak will not compete in ebel this season.

so khl or bust.

interesting days to come. if all teams stay and the chinese team is confirmed that's 29 clubs. surely not the number of teams you wish to start a league with. maybe estonians will join too? there's still time for us to be kicked out for not paying salary debts. does anyone know how the agreed upon payment plan is going?

Nothing yet, the Club is now focused on EBEL Youth Stars league where Medveščak plays in final (lost game #1 to Red Bulls). I am really mad with it, they only said that 2016-17 season tix are on sale.

What countries would you include then?

Switzerland, maybe? In fact, I've always thought that Northern Italy (Bolzano area), Austria and Switzerland should form a single country. This region shares similar geographical and demographic features so even if not a country, which is obviously going too far, a league would be quite possible. German hockey is also worth mentioning. A couple of teams from Germany could also be included in this league, making way for some second tier teams with good potential like Bietigheim-Bissingen to grab a spot in DEL or EBEL.

Hmm, let's say... Zurich, Bern, Lugano, Davos from Switzerland. Mannheim, Köln, Münich and Düsseldorf from Germany. Or maybe some more. Add a couple of more teams and you have an eastern & western conference system as well. This league would definitely compete with KHL. Or, what about Czech teams? The league already has Znojmo. Snatch one or two Czech teams with good attendances and voila, you have a Central European league.

The context of the conversation was talking about creating a 2nd strongest league or an entertainment alternative to the NHL. The EBEL is getting all the countries they can and doing a good job, but combining hungary and Slovenia and Italy won't rival the KHL or the NHL. That's all I meant by that.

Maybe a time to turn around your philosophy and go back and sign some cronucks again? That's what a liked on Medvescak when he joins KHL, bring some canadiens to the league, but not pure canadanies, i mean Cronucks. The same way as Milan Rossoblu plans..

I don't think the management gave up on cronucks (that would be stupid of them), it's just that there's a finite number of players capable of playing on khl level, and not all of them are keen on switching continents. there are a few interesting names out there, that's for sure.

Yeah, somebody like Luke Gazdic would be great to see. But is there someone else? Drazenovic? Still dreamin'. Piskula? Maybe not good enough. Who else?

Ummn, attempt after attempt to pull Tom Zanoski, a fourth liner, and they finally got him. Mark Katic and Blake Parlett also. As Vanjito said the pool of candidates is just so small. We will see if the Oilers resign Gazdic but as it stands the payday Gazdic would require would be extremely hefty and that will only get worse if he is resigned. He pulls 885k at Edmonton and is due at least a 5% raise if extended. The average import in the KHL earns half that. Gazdic is not that good and Medvescak is not that rich. Piskula is another case of would be an option if his club chose not to extend him. Drazenovic is a case I'm sure they've pursued so he may has a predisposition against switching continents.

Marty Sertich (4th line plug), Dekanich (ECHL goaltender), Drazenovic (top 6 center - NOPE, bottom 6 rather).

Zanoski - plug, healthy scratch, Gazdic - too expensive + they ****ed up his brother. Bezina+Vukovic (too expensive).

Piskula, Miskovich, Hamonic, Ryan Horvat ( http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=61904 ) ...

Well to be fair, Hovinen was a really solid goalie that one season he played in the KHL and McMillan has 171 NHL career games for a reason, if he's not brought in to score he is a solid player otherwise.

Hovinen might actually be a really good signing because obviously he's cheap and if he performs like he did for Kuznya few years ago it's going to be great success on cheap.

well he also had DEL stats for a reason.

in 4 years he had 111 appearances in NHL with 3 goals, don't think that Medvescak can pay for an energy line player with that many NHL games. They probably want production but... let numbers do the talking.
he probably has a big heart, I don't want to judge him, but his stats are pathetic and show that he's should play in EBEL. It would be great if he pays off, though.

Also heard that Medvescak wants to play in MOL, it would be great if they could have some more russian lower VHL level youngsters and shuffle them a bit from time to time so they can prove themselves, also, it would open up some space for homegrown players to compete at semi pro level.
