Biron, available or not, and if so for what?

Is Biron still available? If so, what would it cost from the Oilers to get him? What do the Sabres need right now?

Biron IS available....Buffalo wants Miller as there starter.

The funny thing is Buffalo is similar to Edmonton in a lot of ways, both teams have a lot of young talented forwards.

Buffalo probably needs a Solid D Man.

You'll get mixed opinions on whether Biron is available. Some think he's too valuable right now and others want to take advantage of his increasing value (especially considering we still have Miller). I just listened to an interview with John Buccigross who said he thinks the Sabres should sell while his stock is high. I tend to agree with him.

Like everybody else, the Sabres could use a legitimate top-six scorer and a top-4 d-man.

We need a right-handed d-man, either Smith or Staos off your roster. If they're not on the table, I'm sure we could start with Cogliano and see wherer things go from there.

I think if we dump a goalie for the sake of having 2 on the roster, Mika goes. To get Marty right now, you're going to have to Pony up...

Buffalo is probably going to sit on their hands for a few more weeks. I think the fan backlash for trading Biron now would be too great. If its going to happen, it'll probably be sometime before the olympic break.

I don't think that's true and, even if it were, I don't think it's much of a consideration.

There seems to be alot of 'johnny come lately' fans who hear on sportscenter that Biron has won 254 straight games. I think any backlash from a Biron trade would directly correlate to what return they got. If, lets say we send Biron+a pick to St. Louis for Weight + 1/2 his salary picked up, I think there'd be no backlash. But if we send Biron to Vancouver for a 2nd and a 3rd round pick, even though it would be a fair return IMHO, there would be some issues.

IMO, right now, it would have to be an overpayment to get Biron.

Aside from the obvious things, Regier's always been very patient and wary.

I'm sure he wants to make sure Miller can be a horse and be a valid #1 goalie... If he traded Biron now and Ryan got into a slumo soon after, I don't think he (and probably the ownership) would forgive himself.

You just don't trade away players from a winning team for the sake of trading them. So, IMO, an overpayment or wait until Miller gets the reins of the club back (which again, may not even happen if Biron keeps this up... Not really much more you can ask of your goalie but to win games... So they might end up splitting time til the deadline... And who knows, maybe even into the playoffs).

So let's trade him for Peca! The fans that wouldn't understand the logic behind trading Biron would be the same fans that would do cartwheels through Niagara Square if we landed Peca.

I wouldn't want Peca, and I don't know how to do cartwheels...therefore your assessment is off.

With the way Marty has been playing lately it seems that this oft-mentioned trade idea has an almost-reasonable ring to it.

Still don't see it happening though.

I'd compare it more to a legal case. I'm usually the defendant. The prosecutor cannot win without facts. And when the defendant has the facts, they will always win. ...I'm on Absolute Poker right now.

i play on partypoker.net sometimes. but i despise online poker. its ruining the game. i've been playing for a lot of years prior to the Poker boom (thanks to my grandmother). nowadays you cant get a decent low limit game at the casinos because you have a thousand people in there calling every hand to the river. i've backed off playing at the casinos a lot in the last year or two. i play mostly house games and bar leagues now

I don't play much, but with a few days off during the holidays, it's always a good time.

Btw, when's the last time me and you argued about anything?

like i said ive learned not to bother. most of my opinions on the goalie controversy thread fall in between you and mdoak anyways. so whats the point. i see where you both are coming from. i get it though. If there was a Drury controvery Thread i'd have your role.
