He very may well be. During his time with the Sabres he used to help the police department with training their K-9's.

Richard along with one of the K-9 officers from Amherst co-own the Amherst Dog Kennell on Millersport Highway just off the 990, he helped train my dog, he is a master dog trainer, so to say he owns a "pet hotel" is kinda correct, but the guy is a fantastic dog trainer. His specialty is German Shepards, he trains them for local and national police agencies.

So should I assume the dogs run slower than most dogs and avoid physical confrontation??

You can also assume that they do something right, since they're top-4 dogs wherever they play.

I don't know why people are so bent on bagging on Smehlik -- the last couple of years, we'd have been blessed to have him around. He'd have trouble getting ice time with the group we have now, but realistically, he was never bad. Solid, unspectacular defensemen are nothing to sneeze at, IMO.

Agreed...even on the current team, he'd be above Fitzy right now...and possibly others.

I never paid all that much attention to our d back then, to be honest :embarrassed:

Even so, you know you've screamed at the television numerous times because of something he's done. Only Mike Wilson caused me to yell more.
