**OFFICIAL** GDT 12/23 - Kings @ Oilers

Game Time: 6:00 PM PST | 9:00 PM EST
Location: Rexall Place | Edmonton, AB
TV Broadcast: Fox Sports Net
Radio Broadcast: KSPN AM 710
Online broadcast: Kings Webcast | NHL Radio

  • The Kings had four more players picked for the Olympics, with defenseman Mattias Norstrom (Sweden), defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky (Slovakia), forward Pavol Demitra (Slovakia), and forward Alexander Frolov (Russia) being officially named to their teams.
  • Click Here for the radio schedule of the LA Kings.
  • Click Here for the television schedule of the LA Kings.
  • Click Here For the Kings roster.

Quotable:

"I just squared off with [Vancouver's Ed] Jovanoski [Monday]. Guys obviously need to do a better job at watching some games. I fight for my teammates when they need me to, but I'm not going to fight some guy who plays only four minutes a game. That's a waste of my time." - Sean Avery

"I've been this way since I was 5. I didn't just start talking when I got to the NHL. It's probably too late to change. Maybe there's a program I can go into." - Sean Avery

Injury Update:
  • Forward George Parros re-injured his ankle during a workout and was unsure whether he would be in the lineup.
  • Also questionable for tonight are: Eric Belanger (groin), Craig Conroy (flu) and Aaron Miller (back).
  • Jeremy Roenick, who had successful surgery on his left index finger Thursday, will miss four to six weeks.

Previous Meeting(s) this year: Kings (1-0-0)

Should be a good game today. The Oilers are an awesome team.

Startin off the pre-game lets return to history,
1982, the Oilers five goals wasn't even enuff to secure a victory/
You thought that was bad, well tonights gon be worse,
Tell me in previous years where were you when the Avs and Nucks were fightin for first?/
You need Laraque, cuz Hemsky's girly, and needs protection,
Your not on pace for another eighth, but gonna get another early first round exit/
This ain't no Western Canada bullsh-t, this is Kings hockey,
You got guys like Marc-Andre Bergeron just wanna-be Visnovsky's/
Ryan Smyth, and Pronger won't be enuff today,
Perhaps you didn't watch the games against the 'Nucks and Flames/
Mad at L.A. cause we made a name in ya city,
Came into Western Canada, and made the creators of the game look silly/
Everyone wantin me to take these raps back, but I mean what I say,
Cause me takin this back is like Conklin gettin put on Team USA/
We the Kings, we royal, We give a f--k if ya fans are loyal,
Cuz this is just like the war in Iraq, we just here to jack the "Oil"/
We gonna be 3-0 on the 3 game road trip.. Already 4-0 on the pre-game flow sh-t,
You gonna find out why we say it all the time, 'Yo Team Blows d-ck,
Now sing along w/ me y'all its like this, Go Kings Go kid!/

Why do I have this sick feeling in my stomach that Labarbera will be starting this game? God, I hope I'm wrong.

I would expect us to win this game even though some of are key players may be out of the line up. The way Garon has been playing makes me feel confident going into every game.

The Kings are now 4-0 when I predict they lose so...

4-3 Oil.

From the L.A. Kings Gameday Preview by XM Satellite Radio

Twas two nights before Christmas, and all through Rexall Place,
Twenty-two Kings were stirring, the Oilers they'd face,

The players were pacing, ready to take the ice,
With Santa's permission, they wouldn't be so nice.

With a feisty head coach, directing the next flurry,
L.A. has peppered opposing goalies, under the guidance of Coach Murray,

More rapid than eagles, no two shots the same,
He has whistled and shouted and called them by name,

Now Pavol, now Frolov, now Conroy and Corvo,
On Armstrong, on Avery, on Norstrom and Lubo.

From the mouth of Coach Murray, the pre-game speech came,
And his words stuck in their heads as they started the game,

Skate fast, shoot quick and keep your heads up,
This is the year, we make a run for the Cup!

Nope, wish I could've but you know with work and everything. Did catch the Canada/Russia game last night though here in Kamloops. Awsome game. Very dissapointed Malkin didn't play though, was looking forward to seeing him live.

Malkin alone is worth the price of admission.

Tukonen and finalnd are playing Slovakia here tonite. I had a chance to go that game but the kings are playing so no thanks.

I was at the Nucks/Kings game on Monday. It was great.

That's bomb, son.

I gotta admit though, I have a bad feeling about tonight. I'm a big symmetry guy and on our Eastern Canadian trip, we dropped the first two and won the last. Now out West, we've won two so a loss looks to be in the cards.

5-4 Oilers. Hopefully goes to OT/SO.

You know you've got problems in net when you let Norstrom score

First goal in 84 games. Great job Matty!

Corvo suffers a broken nose. Should return once they can stop the bleeding. A big blow to an already depleted defense. (Don't laugh, you tools. )

And us scoring the first goal makes me even more concerned. We've been winning all our games by giving up the first goal....

I have a proposal for you all,

Will you take a shot with me during the intermissions?

Im pouring my tequila right now, we need some good luck and sacrifices for the good of the team!
