NASHVILLE PREDATORS CLAIM FORWARD JEREMY STEVENSON ON WAIVERS FROM MINNESOTA
- Nashville reassigns Vernon Fiddler and Andrew Hutchinson to Milwaukee (AHL) -
Nashville, Tenn. (October 22, 2003) - Nashville Predators Executive Vice President/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has claimed forward Jeremy Stevenson (JAIR-eh-mee STEE-vehn-suhn) on waivers from the Minnesota Wild. In addition, the Predators have reassigned forward Vernon Fiddler and defenseman Andrew Hutchinson to the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League.
Stevenson, 29 (7/28/74), returns to the Predators organization after posting career-highs in goals (five), assists (six) and points (11) in 32 games with the Wild last season. The 6-1, 215-pound San Bernardino, Calif. native, who scored one goal and posted 48 penalty minutes in a total of 12 games with Nashville in 2000-01 and 2001-02, also notched five assists in 14 playoff games with Minnesota last year.
Stevenson has appeared in three games with Minnesota this season. He has recorded nine goals, 12 assists (9g-12a-21pts) and 253 penalty minutes in 103 career NHL games with Anaheim, Nashville and Minnesota.
Nashville (3-2-0-0) returns to action tomorrow night at 6:30 p.m. CT when they meet the Atlanta Thrashers (3-0-2-1) at the Philips Arena. The contest will be televised locally on Fox Sports Net and broadcast on Supertalk 99.7 WTN radio.
It'll be interested to see what becomes of Jeremy. It seems he started the season off slow in Minny and paid the price. Does Minnesota's year, so far, remind you of what Nashville did last year. They are without key players, ditto with last year's Preds.
I think Stevenson might be a move to shakeup the team. What will our lines but until McKenzie gets back?
