so the rangers won't make any trades or sign any free agents in the next few years?

love the idea, but out 1st line is really just a second line on any other team in the NHL.

Hopefully we can draft a potential top forward or two (or trade for one with Jagr when the time comes)
(edit: or by 09, we can just sign a Spezza/Heatley/Gaborik/Hossa)

but with that said, im lovin our D and G

realistically less than half the players there would probably still be on the roster by 2009

where you successful in predicting the 2005-2006 Rangers?

I know I saw Nylander, Straka, Jagr, Prucha, Lundqvist, Weeks 3 years ago

Is there a single team in the NHL that has a completely home grown roster?

I hope so because that roster isn't that impressive.

I doubt there is any roster that features 75% of all home grown players.

Hopefully we can get a Orr-Hollweg-Ortmeyer line?

Nobody - Prucha - Nobody
Dawes, Korps or Hossa - Dubinsky, Immonen or Helminen - Jessiman, Moore or Callahan

Checkers: Betts, Ortmeyer, Hollweg, Ward, Nieminen, Taffe, Orr, Byers.

* Offense needs two first line players to compliment Prucha. Rangers will need to take a few high-risk, high-return picks like Dube and Savard. One of them went bust, one of them is a first liner. Both were offensively dominant in Juniors, but very small. Rangers will need more prospects like these, where hopefully at least a couple will develop into top line players.

DEFENSE

Tyutin - Staal
Sauer - Poti (let's stop booing and keep in mind that he's an NHLer, not a prospect years away from the NHL)
Pock - Kondratiev

Others with potential to break into the top 6: Liffiton, Baranka, Lampman, Grenier.

* Defense is liking a big, bruising defenseman a la Beukaboom, except MAYBE Grenier who is the only truly big and tough d-man in the system.

GOALTENDING

Lundqvist
Montoya
Holt
Gherson

* No weaknesses here. Lundmark is already a star, just has to keep up the same level of play. Montoya is doing well. Surprisingly, Gherson is doing even better in the AHL so far this year. Holt has limited potential too, if only as a backup.

Obviously not all of the guys will pan out and we will make trades but it's exciting to have the potential of a decent home grown team 4 years down the line.

I can see the point you were trying to make.

heatley, hasek, chara, redden, Brian McGrattan, Peter Schaefer, Bryan Smolinski, Vaclav Varada were all drafted by different teams...but they are the team to follow from growing within....

redden and chara were gotten through trades....ones which they lost older players. and spezza they got the pick to get him as part of the yashin trade.

Don't forget Sakic and Forsberg will be free agents again when they hit 40, can't wait!

lets sign them and messier when he is about 50. LOL I wonder if Messier has any regrets since the team is doing good. Id rather have him than Niemo or Hossa at this point.
