Wow, both MacInnis and Hatcher, how come the Avs homers aren't in here gloating?

I like MacInnis, since we both are from Cape Breton.

Hopefully he isn't out for the season.

Hatcher is a different story. I don't like the guy and could care less if he plays or not.

This will really suck for MacInnis. I hope that it isn't season ending and only a couple of months. I have always liked watching him play, even against the Stars.

Oh please. Don't classify all Avs fans by a few rotten apples. I was bummed about the Hatcher injury and even more bummed about this one. As a hockey fan, I like seeing all the talent out there, not sitting out due to injury or holdouts.

I am an Avs fan and I do not gloat when another team's player is injured. Those who do so are not hockey fans, IMO. Besides that, I believe in karma.

Your assumptions about Avs fans says little about them but it does highlights your biases.

Allegedly complications to the eye injury he suffered a couple of years back.....but I don't know much more than that. Trying to find out more, apparently both he and the Blues want to make sure he's done before officially saying anything - if he's not, then they'll say that. They don't want to say one thing and have it turn out to be wrong.

(edit) If I find out more by 3:00pm I'll post it here as soon as I get the info.

This sucks, I don't care if he weakens the Blues or not, Al is a very respected player in the NHL and it's a shame if this story is indeed true. It might force him to retire...

Just because someone expects you to act badly does not mean you are obligated to do so. It is never appropriate to cheer an injury, even in jest. Please clarify your position.

....could be a blessing in disguise. When Mac is at the point winding up, players will be even more apt to get the hell out of the way if they know he can't see what he's looking at.

Christ, i'd move.

Sucks for the Blues, I always like MacInnis, hopelully Pronger or Jackman can fill in for him as they did for Pronger last season.

This is pure speculation on my part, but my guess is the Blues will call up Aris Brimanis and/or Tom Koivisto in the short term while waiting for Salvador, Walker and Khavanov to heal. Long term, - a lot depends on just how bad the injury is and whether or not MacInnis is done for good.

It's possible they sign a Berard or make a deal but I wouldn't expect a trade soon - Pleau will probably wait to see how the team responds before deciding whether it's worth making a trade to help the team. (They go into the toilet, he'll start selling off. They rise to the challenge, he'll move to help them meet it.)

Tough break for Al Mac and the Blues. Hopefully he can fully recover before the season ends. It would be a shame to see such a great defenseman end his career in such a lousy way...

was i acting badly? i didn't think so. if Peter Forsberg detached his retina, people would not only be cheering, but reminding us Avs fans that he probably detached his retina while diving.

i don't have anything against Al MacInnis, but is this good news for the Avs? most definitely.

The talk that he was going to retire wasn't from him... he refuses to even mention the word or acknowledge that retirement is coming soon.
