goddamit macT pisses me off.... yeah i agree that semenov should FINALLY get in, but it should not be for bergeron..... should be for cross.... i dont understand how taking our only offensive dman out will help us score goals... just makes no freaking sense

Total ********. I understand that he may want a bigger body to defend vs the Avs, but what is that going to do to IMO one of our best defensemen the 1st four games. This is a move I don't get. I'd like to be there when MacT talks to Berg

Just another example of going with a veteran (Cross/Ferguson) over a rookie (Bergy). I'm thinking that if this was February, it wouldn't matter and Bergeron would not be coming out. Bergeron has been pretty good inmy opinion, although last night was not as good as the San Jose game or two of the four preseason games I saw.

He'll be fine, it's just politics for now I think.

I want to see Semmy in but not at the expense of #47. I thought MAB has easily been in the top 3 Dman in eah game I have watched. makes no sense.

This is a travesty. Playing well doesn't have its rewards. So far +/-
Bergeron +3
Ferguson +3
Brewer +1
Cross 0
Smith 0
Staios -1

I actually agree with this move.. while Bergeron is looking great so far, he could easily go -4 against Colorado's forwards and it would shatter his defensive confidence. I think it is wise to have Ferguson/Cross out there in this one.. while they're slow and will definitely get beaten wide by Selanne/Kariya/Forsberg, they're old enough to hopefully stay composed and keep the front of the net clear..

Don't forget, the stars of the league play for the Avalanche, and I don't think Bergeron will fit well in that game... I mean the refs are going to have to protect the leagues stars out there.

this is not a bad idea at all. Lets not forget that MAB is a rookie. IMO, he should play 45-60 games this year at most. This way, he will always be rested. It is a long season at a much higher level of physicality than he has ever seen.

brutal in my opinion...

Sure the powerplay still stinks but Bergy is doing all he can do to revive and he looks pretty damn good in his attempts.

5 on 5 he is the 4th and at worst 5th best d-man in the line up according to my depth chart and if we go by performance thus far him and Staios are tied for 1st.

This is absolutely ludicris but maybe it is just for one game or at least it better be. Once Ferguson and Cross, maybe even Semenov if he is out of shape get burned left right and center by the Av's top two lines I think MacT will understand the importance of Bergy.

If MAB sits out 1, 2, 3, or more games in a row it wouldn't surprise me if he requested to be part of the Comrie deal because what he brings to this team obviously isn't noticed and respected by MacT and Co.

I two would like to hear MacT's explanation for sitting Bergeron instead of the extinct dinosaur Cross...and more so i would like to have been there to see Bergy's response.

the worst part about this idea is that bergeron may be our only dman with enough speed to force kariya and selanne (and co) to the outside. both of those guys will simply blow past cross/ferguson/semenov.

hell, they could blow past cross skating backwards... without skates.

it's almost like macT thinks he needs size to move bodies in front of the net. but the avs play a fast (and i mean FAST) transition game - hence, you need to coutner with speed more than size. of course, i'm not an NHL coach so what do i know?

Yeah... but his acceleration isn't very good. Once he gets going he is really fast, but his initial burst isn't.

Our coach is an absolute clown. Sitting the d-man who's playing best so far, what sheer brilliance

We're sitting the only guy who has consistently pushed the puck up-ice quickly.

And we're playing Colorado....bumbling around in our own zone......uh oh....

I don't like it much but I think he did it because Bergies risky passes can end up in our net very easily with a quick transitition Avs team

this may be true, but to lump semenov in with cross and fergy for foot speed is wrong.... he is MUCH quicker/faster than those two, MUCH

I'm agreeing with almost everyone here:

1) Bergie was playing well, this isn't the time to sit him
2) Semi will step out of the press box to play the best team in the league. He's only in his early twenties and his second nhl season, a bad game here coupled with the fact that he's been pb'ed for the first 4 games will really have the kid behind the 8 ball.

TG63 knows Bergie personally, he's been giving accurate info on Bg for a while now.

Thx for the heads-up 63.

LMHF#1, there's no need for name calling. That was uncalled for.

Always a pleasure.

I'll be in Edmonton for the Classic, and I hope I'll have a chance to meet some of you guys.
