Richards huge hit.

This isn't just like a body check that common folks throw around. This is a hardcore open ice hit. Mike Richards caught Petrovicky(sp?) with his head down and just laid him out. I thought he would have been alot more hurt but the guy showed alot of guts by getting up and pursuing the play.

Again, if you're a hits fan then you need to check this one out. It's on NHL.com right now under the Philadelphia v. Atlanta highlights.

This hit was NUTS, and largely aided by Petrovicky having his head down and looking at his backhanded pass as he skated across the blueline (do they never learn???)

I was impressed (being at the game) that both teams didn't overreact, and that the Atlanta fans didn't go psycho about it. They could tell that it was Petro's error. Ronald's tough as nails, though, he got right up (after sliding fifty feet across the ice half-conscious!!!)

Damn...that was a huge hit. After all these years of playing hockey it still amazes me when players watch thier passes.

You guys should check out the Sharks and Coyotes tonight, especially the first period. Doug Murray had the quantity, but Gauthier absolutely levelled Cheechoo for the hit of the night.

Ah, sweet gauthier, how I miss thee at times on the blueline (hit on cheechoo) and how I'm glad you're gone others (awful giveaway for first goal).

Wow, what a hit. I also like the way he took off his helmet mid fight while Exelby had hold of him, he just undid the strap and flipped it off. Now that takes balls and perhaps Iginla should take notice.

I think Richards is the only guy who is doing that in NHL. Classy move but he is taking much bigger guys in his rookie year.
Maybe he should spend summer time with Tucker. Take a few fight lessons. Just kidding .
