Red Wings vs Penguins (10.18.03)

Detroit Red Wings vs Pittsburgh Penguins

vs

Time: 7:38 PM EST
Place: Mellon Arena

Detroit: 3-0-0-0, 6 points. 9 goals for, 6 goals against.

Pittsburgh: 0-2-1-0, 2 points. 4 goals for, 10 goals against.

Not sure what to say about this one.. Fleury is in.. McKenna will probably be in.. I'm guessing Kraft or Simpson will be going down. Hopefully we will see Focht back in and Bergevin out.

Anyone going to the game?

Lemieux -- Straka -- Koltsov
Abid -- Fata -- Morozov
Malone -- Holzinger -- Bradley
McKenna -- Eastwood -- Buchberger

Tarnstrom -- Berehowsky
Melichar -- Baumgartner
Focht -- Orpik

Fleury
Caron

Is that close? No room for Murley?

i'd rather see murley in than holzinger, we need as much scoring as we can get. also, i expect to see one of two things if McKenna gets put back in. 1) Simpson sent down 2) Kraft traded

I'd like to see Kraft in action before even talking about dumping him.

I don't think Murley plays center...

Yeah.. That's why I didn't have him in.. Not to sure if the Penguins will scratch him, but I didn't really know where to put him in the lines either. I'd like to see Simpson sent down and Holzinger waived, but I doubt that both will happen.

Edzo announced that Kraft will be in the lineup. No word on who he will replace and maybe McKenna might not go.

Hull, Lidstrom, Shanahan for the Wings. Undisciplined play and a miserable PK for the Penguins. Busy night for Fleury.

Can't wait to see how the wunderkind fares against some of the best the NHL can throw at him.

Kraft seems to play good with Straka, but I think the Lemieux-Straka-Koltsov line will stay intact. I haven't heard that they are not going to play together.

Doesn't look too bad unless it is against the wings.

Fata should be in the top 2 lines.
Take out Abid and put Fata on the 2nd.
Fata is way superior from Abid.
Don't even think about doing that.
Fata has gave it all thus far. Abid played lazy against the Habs.

Lemieux - Straka - Koltsov
Fata - Kraft - Morozov
Abid - Buchberger - Malone
Murley - Eastwood - Bradley

Abid did manage 6 of our 23 shots on Thursday. I haven't been all that impressed with Fata so far this season.

I'm going.

I don't think McKenna is quite ready, so they will hold him out of the lineup. Simpson too, for Abid. We don't need goons in this game at all.

We need a miracle.

At least I'll get to see MAF. Speaking of which, I better get some sleep.

So did Lemieux.

I don't get why we should be rearranging every single line we have. Our 5 on 5 play has been excellent since the start of the season. Some of you play too much NHL 2004.

Then where does that leave Abid and Kraft?

Abid - 2nd or 3rd line, Kraft - 4th line

Why pay a 4th liner almost a million, especially when he could replace Holzinger or Fata.

What is the point of having Kraft in the lineup if he is on the forth line? By the way, I think it will be 5-2 detroit.

Because it's more economically feasable than keeping him in the press box. And it's not like he'll be there all year or something. Let him work his way up. The emphasis this year has been competition, right?

Yeah but no need to use him improperly.

I don't play too much NHL 2004. Actually, I play too much ESPN NHL Hockey.

What's wrong with speculating? With people coming in and out of the lineup, the lines are prone to change. I was just trying to see what everyone's opinion was on how they would look.

I think Abid should be given a chance on the 2nd line in place of Fata. He played pretty well against Montreal. So the 2nd line with Kraft in the lineup is Malone, Kraft, and Abid. I guess we have to give Milan one more chance. I would also rather have Fata on the 3rd line replacing Holzinger. The only thing with losing Holzinger is maybe some faceoff abillity but that's it.

I agree with Jacobv2 here. Let Kraft work his way up. Same with Abid. They weren't healthy scratches for nothing you know...

The Morozov-Fata-Malone line has been the best from how I see it, there is no point in taking it apart. Especially demoting Morozov or Fata, who are at this point the best two players on the team (outside of Melichar and the goalies).
