Not going to say we played great tonight.. But wow.. Showing some heart and character to stay in the game and get the comeback win against one of the top five in the league.

Great vision by Malone and a perfect pass to Fata for the gamewinner.

Fleury.. Maybe it's just me, but I didn't think he played all that well. But he made alot of saves and won the game.

First star to Rico Fata, and he surely deserved it. He just sayed "*****" on TV too.. I thought that was amusing.

I thought he wasn't stellar either - but then again, it's hard to follow up the show he put on against the Kings. Anything more 'human' could certainly be somewhat of a let down. But - he won, beating the Red Wings and Dominik Hasek. That's a good score sheet for your first win.

I had the "privilege" of watching the Red Wings feed for the game. In between Mickey Redmond's constant whining, there was one good point brought up that they had discussed with Dave Lewis earlier today. Apparently the Wings believed Flery's weakness is that he is a little to eager to throw the poke check. The Wings definitely had that in their plans tonight, with Zetterberg's stellar goal and several other chances where the Wings held on to the puck to deke out the poke check.

Koltsov had a couple of excellent chances breaking in from the left side - just goes to support my new crusade in that he would be better on the LW.

It is somewhat ironic that I was almost about to rail on Malone prior to the game in that maybe he wasn't ready for the big time and needed some more maturing. He, to me, appeared to have the tools and size but just needed development time to tune them for the NHL. But he definitely did not look out of place at all tonight - in fact looked great!

Orpik played well I thought. Berehowsky was shaky again. Bergevin - as much as I have supported the guy - has to have a seat in the press box. And Eddie - ditch the plan of having forwards play the point on the PP. It didn't work with Kovalev and it's working even less effectively with Straka.

Good post man..

Left wing is Koltsov's natural position.. I agree that I'd like to see him there.

I would agree for most of the first half; I thought he needed to be a little more heads-up. But in the latter half, he really turned it on.

It just goes to show how tough Fleury is. He never had the best start to the game, but he shuts out the wings the rest of the way to allow the pens to get back in the game. Caron did the same thing against the flyers. The pens are really showing some character.

It was a sweet game but damn....

Anyone catch how the goal was waved off?

And damn, Koltsov was FAST. As soon as I saw him coming in on the LW after the faceoff in the 3rd I said "CRAP" and it was justified. Damn.....

stop making excuses, the Penguins had just as many short-handed goals as they had power play goals...not to mention that by the time the final penalty on the Wings was called it was still 3-1 Detroit...

Honestly. I was sitting 10 rows up from the ice and I saw all the crap that was going on. Focht shoving Hull into the glass repeatedly, Berehowsky tackling guys. All this right as the refs looked at it. It was seriously pissing me off. When a team as unphysical as the wings get that many penalties, something is up.

I agree to a certain extent.

I don't remember ever having said after a game "wow, those refs were on the ball tonight", though. Everyone always complains about the refs. You just have to adjust.

Well, I can easily adjust when there was around 10 penalties called in one game, and like 6 being in the first period. You certainly don't say "wow, the refs were good tonight" but they shouldn't be F'ing up that much. Yeah, the broken stick was an obvious one, Chelios's roughing maybe but Wooley, tripping. Yeah right. He shoved him a bit after getting hit when going for a line change and the guy fell over like a ton of bricks.

They replayed it like 5 times tonight on tv. It was pretty easy to see why it was called off.

Yeah, I was at the game. Right in front of it. Hence the reason why I asked.

I was watching on TV and see the replay at least 4-5 times. I didn't think it was conclusive. It could have gone either way. Luckily, it went ours.

He didn't kick it, but he did intentionally rotate his foot so the puck would be reflected towards the net. I've seen several goals just like this one called off.

Yeah.. I have too. Which is the total opposite of what should happen in such situations.

Oh I can be. And I am sure I will be. I like Pittsburgh sooooo much better then being around Philly. This place is just....cool. I am already considering getting a Pens jersey actually, lol. Actually asking for one since I won't buy it myself. They are too expensive, except for my Yzerman jersey that I got for $63 US at the Hockey HoF.

I've even subscribed to this forum! Hopefully, I am allowed as a fan, lol.

Boo hoo. Poor Red Wings.

You should be glad for all the penalties called, because the Wings had a better chance to score than the Pens. Most, if not all, of the calls were legit. The Wings were undisciplined for a while tonight.

Here's a few thoughts for upset Wings fans. You had a 3-1 lead and blew it. Hasek only had 13 saves on 17 shots. The last half of the third period was basically a Detroit power play and no one scored.

The Pens won tonight, fair and square.

Edit, not directed really at Wingboy, nor specifically at anyone. Forgot to mention that.

Gives us an excuse so HA! I was really hoping Brett Hull would score a goal after getting mauled by Focht for some reason and it being allowed. But didn't happen.

But hey, direct it at me. I found it funny to be in the middle of all the Pens fans. But I wanted someone to say something to me while waiting for the bus. So it finally happened in the elevator back at my dorm and this is what happened.

Kid: Tough loss for you Stevie Y (was wearing my Yzerman jersey).
Me: Yeah, enjoy Alexander Ovechvkin though.
Kid: .......
Me: You have no idea who that is, do you?
Kid: ........No.....
Me: It's the guy that you guys are going to land with the #1 overall pick.

And with that, I walked off the elevator.....onto the wrong floor. But the walk off had to be done. I thought it was witty, personally. You may not but I do!
