...Except for the Ducks.

Ducks win, they're Pacific Champions - and our first round opponent.

If that series comes to be, that is where I see Washington knocked out.

I think Minnesota could surprise Dallas in the 1st round. Like they did last year to the Blues. Stars' defense and goaltending are not too good whereas MIN has a solid d-core and a nice goalie. MIN has a knack for winning these 1st rounds.

MIN has a knack for knocking out the Central Winner.

Dallas won the central, but yeah I think that D and goaltending leaves them very vulnerable in a playoff series. I think the Caps are going to need to beat Pittsburgh in that second round and if they do I think they probably win the Cup, or at least I'm picking them too.

I saw a tweet by Bruce Arthur the other day that if the NHL ignored the division rivalry seeding it'd look like this.

Florida - Tampa
Pittsburgh - Philadelphia
Isles - Rangers
Washington - Detroit

talk about a marketer's wet dream.

The Wild will be without Parise and Vanek for at least the first two games of the playoffs and Haula for at least the first game.

This is their projected forward lines for game 1.

Jason Zucker-Mikko Koivu-Charlie Coyle
Nino Niederreiter-Mikael Granlund-Jason Pominville
Chris Porter-Zac Dalpe-David Jones
Ryan Carter-Jarret Stoll-Justin Fontaine

The west would be:

Stars/Wild
Blues/Preds
Hawks/Sharks
Ducks/Kings

Yikes. Normally I would find that amusing but I hate that Stars so much right now so it's kinda sad.

yeah, it you just seed it 1-8, but if you did it the "old" way in that division champs got the top seeds and everything else was divisionless, we'd still have the Ducks, and Dallas the Wild, but the Blues would have the Sharks and the Kings would play the Hawks

Rant time.

Groupon had this neat deal for NHL logo coffee mugs. "Great," I think. "I wouldn't mind having one with a Predators logo..."

CHOOSE ONE:
  • Boston Bruins
  • Buffalo Sabres
  • Chicago Blackhawks
  • Colorado Avalanche
  • Columbus Blue Jackets
  • Detroit Red Wings
  • Minnesota Wild
  • New York Rangers
  • Philadelphia Flyers
  • Pittsburgh Penguins
  • Saint Louis Blues
  • Washington Capitals

...Wut.

If you truly hate the Mild, go check out their GDT and watch the game against the Stars. It's ridiculous how bad they are right now, Dubnyk standing on his head.

Ah, but they're losing 2-0.

And, of course, I'm stuck watching the FS-Wild feed on Fox Sports North Plus...

You don't get NBCSN?

Any time I can get away from Anthony LaPanta's guttural squawking is good. At least Minnesota didn't score so you didn't have to hear his goal call.
